My guess on the FCC releasing it today is that the ORIGINAL plan was to release the phone on the 17th, however due to some "unknown" reasons it sounds like the phone is being pushed back. I'm also assuming that once they submitted it to the FCC they couldn't go back to them and be like "oh, btw, we decided we don't want to sell the phone on the 17th, can you do us a favor and not release this, thanks, bye."

By 5PM when BIG news in announced?

Seriously though...I'm still using the Original Droid Incredible...and I went through this whole process when that device launched. Bottom line with all of these rumors and whatnot is that VZW has a plan and they're sticking to it. The FCC document was submitted in early November and granted today...those words/dates are on the document. From this point forward, VZW will take the necessary steps they see fit. Patience.

But I would be thrilled to hear some news by 5PM.

Quote taken from another forum...

Hey guys. I've been a forum reader for years and this is my first post so hopefully I don't get flamed for posting a rumor. BUT, I just got back from my local Verizon store where I played dumb to see what info I could get on the GN.

I told the rep that greeted me at the door that I'm about to switch over from AT&T (which is actually true) and wanted to check out the Rezound and the GN before making my decision. Without any hesitation he said, "We don't have the GN yet but it's coming out on Thursday." I asked if he had any demo phones for training purposes and he shouted over to a group of 3 or 4 VZW reps "Hey did we get a Galaxy Nexus to play with yet?" and the response was, "It should be here sometime tomorrow."

So hopefully they weren't screwing with me but I am definitely going back every day this week!

That's funny...this pug is actually attached to my wife more than me....but he follows me around too. I had never had one until him, and I LOVE THEM!!!!!! They are great dogs for kids...he is actually very good with the baby....he'll keep his distance from her, yet roughhouse with my 4 year old.

I agree that pugs are great dogs. I would have never chosen them as my first choice initially, but my ex wanted them, and then didn't want them in the divorce. I have been in love with them since the day we went to see them as puppies. I wish I had named them Yin and Yang though, as one is fawn and the other is black.

Two-time pug mom here, too - both rescues, one meant to be a foster only, and she decided to keep us. Without a doubt, they are like having a toddler for 15 years, but I wouldn't trade them for anything...not even a dozen SGNs! :D:D:D:D:D

I still think it releases this week

It just makes no sense to release the FCC approval today, without some point/meaning/purpose. All be it, the FCC release date could predate the current VZW Charlie Foxtrot. I'm not sure how much instantaneous control VZW has over the FCC releasing or not releasing info.

Yep, it ain't adding up. Who all of a sudden knows to throw out a mid-December release anyway? What would be the reason? Source code is out and FCC is passed soooo.....

Just remember that the FCC release has no bearing on when Verizon will get around to actually announcing or releasing the device. As encouraging as that info is, that doesn't change anything. Don't get yourselves too spun up. Hope, don't hype. Maybe Verizon will pleasantly surprise us. Maybe not. The one takeaway we have from this, which we already knew, is that it's not some hardware issue holding it back.

All you people saying that its because they need to sell more razr/rezounds seem to forget that they are also obligated to sell so many nexus phones. I'm tired of hearing that comment as it makes no sense at all.

As has been discussed pages and pages ago, the RAZR and Rezound are a MUCH bigger thing for VZW than the Nexus. They will sell many more units than the Nexus and especially the RAZR has the Droid branding that VZW loves. Sure they probably have some sort of contracted volume with Samsung for the Nexus, but there is no way the # of Nexus sales will be anywhere near the combined total of RAZR/Rezound phones sold (or that would be their plan; as we are seeing the RAZR sales are rather dismal).

Howdy all

Looking for some phone advice and it seems like yall really have a lot of knowledge with this kind of stuff. Prior to my current phone I was the bomb. Had this bag thing with my phone and could go anywhere. This was about four years ago and I bet I was the envy of everyone. I was the really cool. Then I went two years ago to this new fangled device. It is great. Called a flap? phone. You can close it so it is only half of the size. Fits in my shirt pocket behind my pocket protector full of pens, etc. It called a jitterbug and has really big buttons. Such a breeze to use. I think a lot of you would love it. It even has a button I can push and if someone misses me they can leave a message where I can hear it right on my phone. No need for plugging in an aswering machine. It's so cool.

Anyway, I read a little bit of help here and you all seem to know so much. I am thinking of getting a cool new phone. Do you think that this phone (T-Tex ???) will cause me to run over my 120 minute a month plan. Also I hear a lot about Ice Cream Sandwiches. Not sure what this is, but is it OK for me cause I really only like a bowl of chocolate from time to time. Also are the buttons on this cool new phone you are talking about big - this was a great feature on my last phone.

One last think why is the FCC involved does this phone need special approval if you are on a plane travelling? Me and the mmisses might take a ride on on of those jet airplanes - you never know.

Thanks so much

Not true... the FCC info did have a hold on it. If nothing more, we know that they did at some point intend for it to release very close to today. Whether that changes or not is up to someone at VZW, who will hopefully be fired when this is all over.

OK... someone has probably already said this, but the delay may have been pending FCC approval, since one of the docs was dated yesterday... VZW might have been expecting that the final approval would be days if not weeks, so therefore, we need to postpone release....

Just my 2 cents worth! :)

I like your 2 cents!
I didn't bother to wade through the FCC docs - it's like reading a foreign language.

But that doesn't force Verizon to suddenly release it, which, as you just said, is still up to Verizon. It just indicates, as you also said, that there was originally an intent to release it at a particular time.

Exactly. So what else could it be? Some have already said they're working out ICS bugs but I don't buy that. Google isn't going to release the code with a bunch of known problems ongoing. So the only explanation left is...there is no explanation.

Cautiously optimistic

It's good to be Cautiously optimistic because they were probably just screwing with you. I have some friends that work in the retail stores and just like us, they read forums and track rumors...but they know nothing more than the rest of us.

Oh and they like to screw with people...

Wow, I just realized my friends are jerks.

From what I understand the FCC must approve any device that transmits or receives radio signals. Including all cell phones.
