I have issue with awake time. Before rooted, it was fine since MR update... after rooted (last week) and played with different roms. I am using fresh 1.1, gumbo kernel with set cpu and find out that my phone still awake while it go sleep or screen off... I tried inspected everything I could and even search Keyword "awake time 100%". Even googled it and it kept me point to stocked rom with mr update. Grr..

Please help me to cure awake time.. help me inspect what cause this. Thanks..

What amazes me is that this happens too sometimes and it is difficult to identify, but not impossible. I agree with the advice of trying to identify the app which may be the root cause (no pun intended - "ROOT", lol) But I have a question?

With the 100% wake time, have you noticed any significant performance difference with the handset or battery life? I had high % wake time and yet everything was fine, even battery life, so I only ask because even with the 100% all things may be ok (erroneous reporting of wake time?).

lol... I don't know if that helps... but just wanted to offer some insight to the "WAKE" time reporting.

Usually this is due to a bad app. Have you installed any apps recently? If so, start by uninstalling them one at a time to find a culprit.

I am checking all apps now and is there any app to detect app that keep phone awake? that would be nice. Hasn't pay attention to awake time because played and focus on rom much. Yesterday, I finally settle down with custom rom and finally noticed awake time.

Yea, My performance is so beautiful. Battery life is better than stocked rom with mr update battery fix. But imagine that, if I improve awake time, it would give battery life two times better. that's why i want detect what cause to keep my phone awake.

One more question, Out there who use fresh 1.1 with gumbo kernel and setcpu, do you have problem with awaken time? thanks.

Whooaaa, you are an @, you pick wrong person.. I am happy with custom ROM and I am not blaming ROM. I am trying to detect what keep my phone awake. My point is to find the problem and solve. Did I say about my phone stop working? Lol YOur post is not helpful, @.

Pyro... It is NOT the custom ROM... this issue has occurred with STOCK HERO's too. As a matter of fact, I think sometimes it is an error because the phone last's just as long with 100% wake time. There is an app manager others have used here to identify battery and cpu usage, I don't remember the name, forgive me, because I don't use it. Check some of the other threads, you will find it or maybe someone can jog my brain fart I'm having and tell you what it is.

Mbell, that's an awfully helpful post!

that's what I do now.. and thanks!

Had spare parts since and doesn't detect at all. battery history -> partial wake usage
it showing that Android system about 10 percent of the bar.. then other less than 2 percent. partial wake usage is one what we talk about?

Only all I identified in keeping my phone awake is Meebo and/or any of the instant message apps.

I recommend always loading just an app or two at a time, then putting phone through its paces to make sure all is ok. It might pay for you to try this method... a lot of work yes, but maybe worth it.

:)

Yea, that's what I am thinking.. same with force closes when you boot it. another lesson learned. Still searching app and unistalled some apps. still no luck..

Your phone will stay 100% awake if you're connected to a PC also. And mbell75, WTFIYP. Stock sucks eggs. We want something better so we look for it. I guess we're not supposed to post problems here? Would you rather we all went back to stock, sat around a campfire, and sing kumbaya? Classic!!?

It's not about root problem or app problem and not sure which section I should post about awake problem. That's why I leave it here and hope mods will move it if need.

It's ok, like a pc, we can't load a bunch of programs all at once then reboot and wonder where a conflict might be coming from. It's the same with the app's, not every one is written with the perfect code.

It might be painful, but maybe un-install all your apps, soft reset (power down/up) and then re-install maybe an app or two at a time. File managers, memory apps are not always able to identify the cause as you have mentioned.
Ultimately, it might just be something to leave alone if it really isn't effecting the handsets performance... haha, like ignoring a splinter, I know, but what the hell right... if it ain't broke, don't fix it. lol...

;)

Let us know if you DO find a hanging app or whatnot.

Happy Trails
