A Few Questions:

1. Will it automatically start rooting+roming when I start the program (hopefully it wouldn't do something ridiculous like this, but I am paranoid so I'm askin')?

2. Can I choose what I want it to do? (Root it, Rom it, Set up for WiFi tether, uninstall specific apps (Visual VM, Exchange Mail, Etc)

3. Is there an easy way to revert using this program? Or will I need another program if I want to unroot?

4. If I root it and install the Sholes ROM will I be able to just install another ROM over it or is it not that simple? I heard Bugless Beauty is really good, and preferred over Sholes by a lot of people.

5. Will flashing a new ROM lose all my current settings? I thought I read this somewhere but can't seem to find it now...

6. If I install WiFi tethering I heard there are problems with WiFi/other problems. Are these still problems or have these been fixed?

Thanks a lot if any help you can provide, it means a lot!

1. Yes 2. Yes 3. Yes 4. Yes 5. No if you do it right 6. Fixed

Look throuh the multiple threads on Sholes in this Forum. Each one of your questions have been addressed and you will gleen other useful rooting facts and tips.

Thanks a lot for the responses. I'm sorry that I did not think to search first, I will do that from now on. I think you may have misunderstood my first question though. Does the program really start to root and ROM my Droid immediately as soon as the Droid starts the program, without any sort of confirmation? That's what I was asking in my question, and I don't think it makes a lot of sense that it should do that.

You will have a conformation of which rom to select, to download, and then flash. You can chose quit during these prompts and your phone will remain untouched. I think all of use were a little uncomfortable when first using SM Updater but it is a piece of cake if you follow the instructions. Make sure you don't select "wipe data" if you want to keep your settings and pay attention to what programs will be installed and which are left out (I always manually select to keep the default email as I have a widget that uses it). This will all make sense once you start the process.
