I just got my Galaxy Phone yesterday but facing big issue with contact sync.

1. Contact cannot be sync with NPS as it is showing unsupported device. looked on web and found one solution but could not understand it.
The phone doesn't come with a 'Android Device' driver. Had to modify the google supplied "android_usb.inf" file in the android SDK folder (\android-sdk-windows-1.5_r3\usb_driver\x86\android_usb.inf)

added under
[Google.NTx86]:

; SAMSUNG GALAXY
%USB\VID_04E8&PID_6640.DeviceDescRelease%=androidusb.Dev, USB
\VID_04E8&PID_6640
%USB\VID_04E8&PID_6640&MI_04.DeviceDescRelease%=androidusb.Dev, USB
\VID_04E8&PID_6640&MI_01
%USB\VID_04E8&PID_6640.DeviceDescRelease%=androidusb.Dev, USB
\VID_04E8&PID_6640

and added under [Strings]:

USB\VID_04E8&PID_6640.DeviceDescRelease="SAMSUNG GALAXY"
USB\VID_04E8&PID_6640&MI_04.DeviceDescRelease="SAMSUNG GALAXY
Composite ADB Interface"
USB\VID_04E8&PID_6640.DeviceDescRelease="SAMSUNG GALAXY Bootloader"

The phone is being used for application development and debugging.
The phone can also be easily rooted.

If any one of you understand this please tell me.

2. I have around 400 contact in my outlook so it very difficult to enter all of them again. someone told me to sync it with gmail then to my phone. but there is no software available as of my knowledge to sync contact from outlook to gmail.
Also my gmail has already created the contact of 660 enteries automatically which i dont want in my phone.

I am very confused as how to sync all my contact to this phone please help me.

Hi Rishimittal, welcome to the Forum :)
NPS does not work it has been an issue since Samsung released the Galaxy, the only thing it can be used for is updating the firmware of the phone and even then it has its limits.
You can connect the phone to your computer by usb and then pulling down the notification bar at the top of the screen and select "mount" you should then I believe be able to sync with outlook (someone correct me if I am wrong as I do not use outlook but read somewhere that it can be done).
The Gmail problem you could make a new account pehaps .Hope this helps a little you could also see here http://androidforums.com/samsung-i7500/17046-i7500-faqs-work-progress.html for other things :)

1. Open your gmail, Import the contacts from a csv file, you have to select Also add these imported contacts to options below and select new group and name it Phone Contacts.
After importing your contacts will be added to the Phone Contacts

2. Open settings in your phone and then Data synchronization and select contacts, this will sync all contacts from your gmail account.

3. After synchronizing open your contacts, and press the menu button in phone and select display group, from the list select Phone Contacts, this will show contacts only from Phone Contacts group imported from gmail.

(the following step is optional)
4. In contacts once again press menu and select Edit sync groups, from the list uncheck everything except Phone Contacts, this will sync the contacts only from that group. this step is useful for future synchronization.

Hope this helps.

I think above method will not transfer all the field specially photo field and other fields.

My NPS is showing updated to latest version.

By this method also not working

Any other options.

Export your contacts from Outlook to a vCard file (vcf), import it to your google account and sync contacts to your phone.
There are some apps in the market that allow you to import contacts from vcf directly to your phone (vCardIO is one of them) but I don't know if they actually import all fields.

Thanks I works fine though I had to loose my photo in contact. But for future I think it is safe to be with google than outlook.

Finally dumping outlook. Hopefully.
