***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Off topic, but I had had the Razr and the Rezound and they both have their pros and cons. Most surprisingly was the Rezound had better battery life, but I prefer the Razr's screen over the rezound. I expected quite the opposite would be the case.

I compared them both in store today, the RAZR's screen looked like crap compared to the Rezound. Where you high? ;)

No, I only said that the manager at my local store said they *might* do pre-orders on Friday but nothing was set in stone. He still said that it could come any time next week but likely Monday, when I called him earlier tonight. If that's any good news :)

Not unless he has his phones in stock to sell and has authorization to sell them on Monday. Otherwise he is talking based on old info or directly our of his dairy aire.

Ok, first of all, i have no idea what I am talking about. I am gonna type this as I think of it to get it out of my head and in "print". This is purely a mind dump. I started to not hit the submit button, but what the hell. I am no crazier than anyone else.

If the Nex is delayed, who is hurt?

Verizon? No. If they can delay a sure Nex sale to next year, that helps next years numbers. And they sell more current inventory. Truthfully, they probably have no inventory. They probably dont pay the hardware companies till the units sell. It's done all the time in all channels. They want the contracts. They dont make much, if any, on the subsidized phones anyway.

Samsung? No. They will get these sure sales eventually anyway. IF they still own the verizon inventory of current phones, they benefit by verizon sell more of their current phones. They sell more phones around the world than in the US anyway, so, just another piece of profit in the pie.

Google? No. They have their search engine and optimizations on the vast majority of verizons current inventory anyway. They benefit by seeding out older os's while ICS is introduced and refined with the early adopters that are gonna BUY SOMETHING, now or later. Plus, they want Moto to do well for obvious reasons. That would include the current inventory of premium razor, introductory priced Bionic, world phone D3, etc. Every customer that buys an "older" phone now, is probably a customer for newer phones and os's in a year or two. Gonna go to ATT or TMO or Iphone? Thats ok, google services are available over there too.

We are conditioned to accept "older" technology that is not cutting edge, simply because it is better than what we had before. This is true in ALL products, worldwide. For example, Europe and most of the rest of the world can buy MUCH more innovative motorcycles than the same companies offer in the US. They might dole out 1 cool motos to us riders for every 10 they offer to the rest of the world. Why? We are sheep.

As you know, LTE as it's being sold to us is not true LTE and slower than is available elsewhere or possible here. Why should they give us all the speed possible all at once, when they can dole it out to us a little at a time and have reasons to charge more later for even faster speed and more for the next crop of new phones to take advantage of it. Yes, I can be conspiratorial.

Moto? They are good to go. Who made Nex one? HTC? Who is making the second? Sammy? Who will make the third Nexus equipped with with the then new and next step in technology? LG? Pantech? Nokia? LOL I wonder who? Who is Moto tied to now?

So, NONE of the players are harmed if this phone is delayed. I mean, in the US, where you gonna go? You'll be back.

So, as "early adopters" we can pitch our fits about this or that, but most folks are very happy with a D3, Bionic, Rezound or the flagship Razor. Or even an iphone. Have you checked their market share lately?

Honestly, none of the management of the players give one rats damn what we think.

Until the Labor day 2.3.3 update on my D2, it was flawless and did everything I do perfectly. If not for it going to hell, I would be perfectly happy till I dropped it from a ladder again and shattered it.

So, I think I will just figure out how to sbf it back to 2.2, where it worked perfectly, use as much unlimited data as I can, help clog up 3g for the iphone users, and enjoy keeping this $300 in my pocket as long as I can. In the meantime, I can watch what happens and decide what and when to buy the next one.

I gotta have a phone. Mobile data has changed my life for the better. I am not giving up my unlimited data. If I have to use verizon, I will. The others are no better.

Or, I might buy this phone as soon as it comes out!

:)

Haha definitely tl;dr

You get an A for effort though.

Do you guys really think that Google would allow Verizon to make them look bad since Google said it would be released in November? I feel like Google is going to make sure they release it before November ends.
I don't think so. Google said the GNex would release in November, and it did. Just not in the US. :(

It honestly does sound crazy. It costs the same thing every month for an okay phone or a great phone. If you average that $150 difference over 24 months... it is really very little extra. And honestly... if you can afford $60 a month for a phone... you can't afford another $150 up front?

If that sounds crazy to you then samsung, htc, motorola, Apple all must be crazy for spendimg so much money making mid tiered smartphones

Google has all but pointed a finger at VZW and blamed them. When December hits... you will see stronger PR statements issued.

He said he is for sure NOT getting any phones in on Saturday or Sunday (obviously) but Monday he will very likely have a shipment in, not sure if he would be authorized to sell on that day but I don't care because I'll coax one out of them ;)

The lag was probably more due to Sense (and other bloat) than anything else.

yeah that`s what I figured, but the odd thing was, when I opened the stock task manager and killed everything that was running it said 817 mb total and 543 mb was used with nothing was running with the phone sitting idle, oh well it was a test drive lol :D

Ooh nice catch! Well it looks like we're getting a 16 GB version. Which I am 100% fine with!

I am not fine with this at all. It is one thing for a company to offer 16/32 with a price difference, but to just offer 16 at the price of a 32 GB iPhone, when Apple products are known for being overpriced is aggravating to me.
