Its ok, hang in there you can make it!, I checked out the Razr. It was fast and nice, but I agree with others its a little too wide for how thin it is....

I didn't think it was too wide. Really sharp looking phone I was impressed and it was not abnormally warm anywhere as has been reported. However, it's not me. GN is me!

Late Friday Conspiracy Theory -

So. Google specs the phone, but VZW is able to spec supply commensurate with their network/needs (obvious per radios).

And suddenly it hits VZW execs what they have been seeing in popular news reports and what it correlates to - the same excitement they saw when the iPhone came out.

Concerned about prior commitments to Apple for the iP4s, they delay the phone looking for loopholes until they discover that they can restrict sale of the 32 GB model and reset pricing in order to prevent square-deal 1-to-1 comparisons between the Galaxasaurus Nex and the iP4s.

I was thinking this, but also the higher profit margin aspect. I think they see the large demand for the phone, and they see the ability to get the lower spec phone for the same price of $299. I think they see this as a win win. They get some profit from huge demand, make up lossed profit from lack of bloatware, and get others on the fence to buy their other profitable phones with better storage options. Lets hope we're wrong! I fear not though.

Ha! Forgot i even had writing on it. And no, there have been no offers. Probably because Verizon is being stubbornly quiet and can't give a nexus to anyone and I'm gonna be stuck with this creep drooling on me till they do

Although it is now officially Saturday on my clock so I do believe it's time for the weekend avatar

WAIT don't leave! It's not anywhere near 100% certainty! In fact almost all of the sources have stated that it could arrive any time between the 21st and the end of November...!

If that was the case and they really wanted to set a new price precident, why not have 16gb for $249 and 32gb for $349? You know a lot of ppl would get the 32gb and they would sell more overall

Nooooooooo!!
And yet this is the kind of deal that Darth Vader would have approved of...(Vader of course being Apple, in this scenario)

I don't quite comprehend your post. Clarify? :)

My understanding is that carriers have to make commitments to Apple as to the number of units they'll sell to get the franchise. I seem to recall that was true for AT&T and I know it's true for Sprint's recent pick-up of the iPhone.

So - it's the spending and gifting season - and side by side are two phones:

  • both dual core
  • one long-time famous, the other the subject of news saturation over the last few months because -
    • Samsung outselling iPhone
    • Android outselling the iPhone overall
  • one is tiny screen and talks to you
  • the other is newest and has a big HD screen
  • both come in 16/32 GB models
  • the Samsung costs slightly more - of course, it's 4G

Nexus wins.

Now, for the average consumer - take away the top memory model for the Nexus - and the sales pitch changes - this one has more memory, this one has 4G.

And that can make the "best" phone to the holiday shopper a toss-up rather than a dead-on specs win right down the board.

Anyway - it's surely just a silly conspiracy theory...

I'm still horribly confused how Google got themselves into a situation where Verizon has SOOOO MUCH control over this release. .

Could it be that it was planned this way? This IS verizon's version of the GS2. Will Verizon be controlling updates for the phone like every other Android in their lineup? The plot thickens....
