***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

True. Its hard to tell and all speculation. But interesting either way. I was just thinking as a business person. $299 for a 16gb model is better than $249. Then I'd offer both options when sales start to subside at the price points you suggest. Then discount from there then sales slow again.

Who other than Verizon knows at this point. At least now we're seeing why it was said the phone is Verizon's.

Yeah you wonder why verizon thinks it is a good idea to stubbornly remain silent on their upcoming devices and infuriate customers and potential customers.

Today has been one of lurk days around the forums, just posted a few times today. ;) :)

What a day around here, yes?

I'm still floored by Google Nexus page update to remove the 32 GB reference, I really am.

For those that missed it - the UK model is clearly 16/32 on their web -

Galaxy Nexus

But srsly - no way I could keep lurking after brad's video - genius!

Actually if I remember correctly the UK model was originally listed at 16 GB only and LTE was 16/32. It would seem they simply got reversed. Now whether that was a correction to a previous mistake or a new mistake is anyone's guess.

BTW I have a question:

Why do carriers work differently in the US than they do in Europe? I don't get why our carriers get to take control of everything and buying a phone off-contract is considered ridiculous here in the states, whereas most people in Europe buy off-contract and the carriers are much more open and understanding? Someone please answer my question :)

My silly conspiracy theories sometimes have a way of working themselves into investment analysis blogs - I'll be watching for this one. Last one was within the last 6 weeks, don't recall which one. ;) :)

Well, because thinking verizon's nose is brown from being up apple's butt isn't a bad theory at all lol it's totally plausible

If they only have the 16 gb they will definitely be charging $299 for it. Which is really lame because everything else has 32 and it can't cost them much to have 32 instead. It would be obvious skimping imo

Honestly if Verizon does that I think I pass on the Verizon SGN and wait for my contract to expire and go to AT&T. I expect them to eventually match Verizon's double data and that will be enough for me to tell Verizon FU and give up the grandfathered unlimited data. By then AT&T will at least have the SGN and most likely something even better.

Verizon is the example of how huge, successful companies with good products lose customers and market share. Eventually people don't care how good your products are if you act like they are morons

My thoughts exactly. I was thinking either AT&T or Sprint.

Steven, I don't want to sound like an ass. But, can you stop changing the thread title release date to dates that are "rumored". I think you should have the thread title release date as "now or until 12/31". In the OP, you should have rumored dates with links to the source of the rumor. That way, we don't have to sift through 100s of pages of BS. Most importantly, we can also make a determination ourselves. The way the thread title is, right now, many people will incorrectly believe that 12/8 is the actual release date.

P.S. Your source was wrong. :p

It's mostly consumer driven, but it's also a product of network tech CDMA vs GSM and such where GSM is more standardized. Then there is the further complication of multiple bands of licensed spectrum being different in the all the countries. Basically CDMA has always been a tech where neworks had more control over the devices while GSM forces SIM's and open device switch without the network having much control. CDMA is technically capable of the same thing, but not really a forced standard feature if you will like GSM.

The 700mhz spectrum auction forced rules on Verizon where they are supposed to support the same open device sales you get with GSM, but this will require LTE device OEMs to actually get world phone multiband LTE devices in the pipe which is a good few years off as many countries don't even have LTE yet and we don't even know which bands of spectrum LTE will end up on mostly worldwide. We'll see, but VZW's move to LTE will slowly force them into customers deciding which devices they want most outside their own control. For now they still have more or less TOTAL control of which devices are built for their network even though they shouldn't and this is mostly because we all expect the subsidy in to broad a scale as customers. As well we should for what we pay per month compared to many other countries. Basically we should be demanding full priced phones with cheaper plan pricing.

Honestly, EarlyMon's conspiracy theory aside, it's likely way too late in the game to change the specs on the phone to 16 gb. That'd be a lot of product someone would have to eat or change. If we were back in say.. September.. maybe. It'd definitely take longer than the time to get us to the rumored December 8th date between remanufacturing, loading the phones with software, shipping and distribution to retail locations. Not to mention changing all of the Verizon posters we saw earlier to reflect the change.. Verizon would be cutting it's nose off to spite it's face.
