You didn't come off like a tool in my opinion.

Haha, good. I took ethics training at work and realized I am an E-mail Bully, and I tend to G+ post scathing reviews/rants of local businesses that some how manage to go below and beyond what the average person considers "bad".

One comes to mind of how Verizon employees in my town make more eye contact with their phone than they do with the customer they are help..

Edit: Helping

Hey Guys, say this phone comes out tomorrow, (hopefully an announcement today) do you think i'm safe in going to work and going to verizon afterwards? or do you think it would be sold out by then? (work till 5pm EST) and i live over an hour from work. The way i see it these are my options:

1. E-mail my boss and tell her i'm working from home tomorrow and will swap for wednesday and get the phone right when stores open (i usually work from home wednesdays and fridays)
2. i go to work and on my lunch go to Verizon and get the phone if its not sold out.
3. i go to work and after work go to a Verizon near work around 5PM and get the phone.
4. i go to work and after work drive to my hometown verizon and get the phone around 6-7PM.

any opinions?

Announcement today means take option 1. Then you have all day to play with it.

I don't get why people are interpreting this as meaning 16 GB. He's saying "it would be the dumbest business move in history to charge $299 for 16 GB when the other 32 GB phones are the same price", so therefore they wouldn't do that >_>

Or he's saying the greedy bastards would gladly charge you the same thing for an lesser product and make more money. Who knows.

Just read through the last few pages... did I miss anything?
1. Are you guys seriously expecting a press release on a Sunday?
2. Is there any more hope for BF then there is for tomorrow?

I have a very very very very very small hope that it goes website only tomorrow. And an even smaller hope that it will be available in stores this week.

There won't be an announcement today, I can tell you that much. Announcement tomorrow, release some day this week is likely.

What i don't really understand is if verizon paid for exclusivity for the gn, why do they not want to sell or advertise it. Just seems weird to me but i assume they know what they are doing

Possible explanations:

  1. Verizon did it out of spite to the other carriers. Just imagine if Samsung/Google were contractually obligated to the Verizon exclusive no matter what came up. And now we are just hearing about bugs that Verizon can use to delay the launch. But I can't see Google/Samsung getting caught like this. Plus if Verizon was thinking this, I would actually expect more advertising for the phone and its exclusivity (just with no release date) (Ninja'd by mongstradamus)
  2. Verizon got caught with 3 top end phones unexpectedly releasing around the same time. Probably the most likely explanation. Could be as simple as the ICS release being changed, affecting the timeline. They just bit off more than they could chew with 3 high-end EXCLUSIVE devices and the likely agreements/contracts in regards to number of devices needed to be sold.
  3. Verizon underestimated the popularity/hype of the GNex. Now they are caught in a bind with a phone that they thought was going to be page 13 news overshadowing the Razr/ReZound. Though if they didn't expect it to be a big name device, I don't know why they would have gotten the exclusivity, especially since they have never had a Nexus device before.
  4. Verizon thought they were going to get away with something that didn't, like updates from Verizon or a bunch of V-apps, and now they are having buyers remorse.
  5. They actually have a huge marketing campaign planned, just haven't started it yet. Think Thanksgiving Day during the football games (Verizon does love advertising during NFL games). That would get a lot of coverage. And if it was released on Black Friday, that would mean the Razr got 2 weeks of "protection".
  6. Google/Samsung are doing the advertising, but they have to wait until the release day is announced or Verizon gives the okay. After all, it seems like HTC is doing all the advertising for the ReZound and that the Razr is Verizon's baby.
  7. And while not the most likely, this seems to make the most sense with what has been going on: Verizon has a bunch of monkeys in a room with typewriters that determine the release date (or if you want to steal from the DInc Gingerbread update thread, substitute dingos, lobsters, ...)
I'm sure there are more explanations, but it is a Sunday morning.
