***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Hey McCary, showing some Bergen County love over here!

Nice! I lived in Bergenfield from when I was 13 in 2000 till I was about 20 in 2006. Moved down to Freehold, but I still commuted to school up in Paramus (yeah I went to Bergen...don't make fun!). I actually got a job there for a couple of years and was working/going to class, commuting up from Monmouth Cty. Moved down to the Atlanta, GA area for various reasons.

Totally miss Jersey and BC though. Will be heading back up there to see some friends/family for the holidays in late December. Hopefully with a new Galaxy Nexus!

Another famous multi-quote by our one and only BB

Usually a multi quote happens when I've been away a while. Lol.

We should call her Gretel.

Sorry, I know too many MoPhos as it is.

Yes, GNex is only going to be available in a 16GB version, except that's false and it's really gonna be 32GB. And it's coming out tomorrow, except it's really coming out Dec 8th. Now you're current.

[Sulking]
Right, since there's no other BB in this thread who often multi-quotes. :(
[/Sulking]

Awwww. Sorry my brother BB.

Ill be here...of course I'm always up that late anyway

Same here.

Is it wrong that on the hour every hour I check this forum to see what's new and check out BB's new avatar.

She changes daily, except weekends. Lol.

Not trying to be rude here but can someone explain me what the sayings in the avatars actually mean? BB if your tuning in I'm seriously just asking what those quotes mean, I don't really get it- and it looks a little tacky

:( sorry you don't like. The quotes are aimed at whatever our latest gripe is with Verizon. This weekend was the continual lack of a release date, or any info really.

But everyone likes Star Wars - not every one likes kids :p

Don't worry, I too am just picking on you guys -- I was a camp counselor forever, I only tease when I like you ;)

I don't know if I like Star Wars

I also have to believe that it would take minimum 1 month to assemble, program, package, ship, receive, and distribute devices. If they are still working on quality control... we're not seeing this in 2011. I call BS about his BS.

Apparently the reason Verizon could even make the announcement that it will come to their carrier in October was because it was already approved for quality. What I mean is that they have had a device ready ever since they made the announcement in the first place.
However, your point about "assembling, programming, packaging... etc." is invalid; the phones arrived right on time in the UK, so I don't see why they can't in the US. The LTE version exists, has the two apps, etc. so I don't think it's a matter of rushing to "complete the process" because the process is already complete.

Considering the day is slowly crawling to a close and with no statement or announcement from Verizon, I'm almost certain this is not coming out tomorrow. If anything, we may get an official announcement tomorrow, Tuesday, or Wednesday with it then coming out on Black Friday. If not, unfortunately, all we can do is wait and hope that 12/8 is the longest we'll have to hold out for this.

They wouldn't make an announcement on Sunday.
The soonest we can hope for anything is tomorrow morning, although keeping in mind that the 4-Day Websale ends at the end of the day tomorrow, we will more likely see something at midnight tomorrow.

So nobody is taking the bait from CK on this one? OK, I'll go wild with it...

Could it be that Verizon is insisting that Samsung lock and encrypt the bootloader on the GN?

Let's throw this in from BMX yesterday:
"@black_man_x
Vacation Panda..
to be honest everyone is tired of vzw bullshit. device is no longer a nexus due to their dumb ass games.. Unlocked works great on att.."

One of the defining characteristics of a Nexus is that, as a developer phone, it is unlockable.

Put these two (probably unrelated) "clues" together, and I think we have even more reason to panic than we did before. (And we seemed to have plenty!)

Discuss.

Locked and possibly Encrypted doesn't matter to me. I'm not planning on rooting anyway.

Right... exactly what I said. Miami said that it still hasn't been produced yet... quality control.

OK, I'm coming out of lurker mode, too. I'm anxiously awaiting the Gnex (though maybe not as anxiously as some of you!). At first I was thinking RAZR (I've been very happy with Moto in the past), but the GNex has too much ICS for me to ignore, not to mention that huge screen and NFC, etc.

Today I went to Best Buy to look at the RAZR and Rezound, and to hassle poor innocent salespeople about the Nexus. After holding both in my hand, the RAZR is out. If I decide to do the "Rent-a-Rxx" program, it will be a Rezound. While the thinness of the RAZR is undoubtedly sexy, it's just a bit too wide to be comfortable in my hand. Feels like Moto made thinness the overall priority, to the point where they had to widen it to fit everything in there. Of course, this being Best Buy, I couldn't actually play with them, all I could do is look at the stickers with pictures of icons on them.

And by the way, the sales drone I talked to said "We have the Galaxy Nexus, though it might be the older version." I thanked him and walked away.

How the hell does that make any sense whatsoever? I'm not bashing on you, I'm saying that I don't think Miami knows what he's talking about. The phones are made. They are shipping AFAIK. He's either lying or has no idea and is just making something up to satisfy us.

-6 for failing to specify units.

IS this a case where you can sort of argue with the professor about the units being obvious and get 3 or 4 points back? Or are you one of those who is steadfast in your initial grading?

-Nkk

PS I once took a physics test (this was back in AP Phys II - E&M) and the professor told us to give the answer in whatever units we want (I have no idea why...I think he was trying to find the nerds in the room). Naturally, my charges were in A*s (not too inventive), my E field fluxes were usually in Volts per furlong, and naturally fluxes were all in something per fathom*(acre^1/2)*century.

Been a lurker for a while because i have had nothing to add to the discussion. I went to my local VZW store and was shooting the S the sales guy there. Talking about CM7 and other Roms. I eventually loosened him up and asked about the GNex. He said that he didnt know when, but they had tons of advertising material with the Gnex on it that is waiting to go up. He also mentioned that they were BF poster in another sentence. He checked his system to see if there were any shipments coming in, but no luck (did look happy, but i may be reaching for something). He did say that there is a large shipment of cases coming in tomorrow.

Take it for what its worth.

Because there is a chance they really found issues with the phone between the time those screen shots were taken.

I don't disagree that 12/8 could be a legit date. I agree with others, though, who do not think this is a Verizon document. There is nothing that denotes it as such (logo) and as someone else mentioned, it says under the HTC Incredible 2 that the units will be shipped from the vendor, not from VZW DC...to me, that sounds like a 3rd party retailer document if it even is a legitimate document.

FWIW, I went into a VZW Store (authorized retailer) and they claimed the 12/8 date, but said they may not have any in store until 12/9. I told the sales guy the 9th would be a shame, because I'll be leaving the country on the 9th, and he said if I call him directly, he would drive to the warehouse and get one for me on the 8th. I'm gonna hold my breath and wait for that one.
