Hey everybody! Long time lurker first time poster. I've been anxiously waiting for the GNex like the rest of you and waiting to replacing my aging HTC Hero which is becoming more and more unusable every day. It's still running stock because I'm not as techy as some of you and have never tried rooting.

Do you things think I should just try to root my Hero, go rent a Razr or be patient and hope I don't kill someone because my phone made me rage?

~Skryre

Welcome to the fun house. I haven't looked recently but if Unrevoked has the phone on their list of ones that are one click root then go for it. It's simple and you'll feel like its a whole new phone long enough to wait this never ending ride out.

So IIRC, one of our posters who works at Best Buy Mobile was eyeing a box/crate at work that had a big "Do Not Open Until 11/21" sticker on it.

So... WHAT WAS IN THE BOX?

I don't think we ever heard back from him!!!?????

Do you really want to know?

just a random fact about the phone I found out today, I believe you guys have heard of Gorilla's latest glass technology, "Lotus Glass"? I may be wrong in this, but apparently according to this the "fortified glass" on the GNex IS Lotus Glass. If it is indeed true, GNex is the first phone to be equipped with the Lotus Glass, in fact I think it was before they coin the name Lotus Glass. That explains the scratch test I believe? :D

Wait, where on the page does it specify the Nexus uses Lotus Glass? Am I missing something?

Hi Skryre and welcome to the controlled insanity! :)

Rooting is a personal decision that all depends on what YOU want the phone to do that it can't do for you right now.

I am personally not "renting" an R-phone because I have no faith in Verizon to release Nexus before the "rental" period ends... sticking me with it for 2 years.

Have Plan B ready: 6 months from now the Nexus will be a below average phone. Is it worth it now to lock in for another 2 years? Sorry, but that is the way I see it now. Available for flaming.

Nexus has never been about being a sustained hardware powerhouse. If that is what you are looking for, you will be disappointed.

Oh wow, the Rezound (along with a lot of other stuff) is just $0.01 on Amazon Wireless today. SOOOOO tempting to jump ship. I could surely resell it at a profit if I decided to go GNex. Question is, what will full retail be. Ends November. 28th. Hmmmm.

If my contract is up, could I theoretically remove my line from my family's and open a new line and buy the phone for $0.01 with any early termination fees?

No point in rooting the HERO anymore, unless for practice and screwing around. Are you still on Sprint and waiting to make a move? If so, we're in the same boat. I think I am going to wait until Weds, and if there is no good news on the Nex, I will buy the Rez to lock in the DD promo, only to trade it in when the Nex comes out... if it's worth the hype.

What I do is I just turn around and sell them on Ebay. I pay a little bit more out of my pocket each time, but it's not that big of a deal. I will be paying full price for the Nexus, but I will turn around and sell my D3 one ebay. BTW, Richman21 comes from part of my name, and 21 is my lucky/favorite number. Hey today is the 21st, maybe today will be my lucky day!

I am seriously considering buying the Rezound on Amazon for $0.01, activating hotspot to get $100 gift card, and then selling the Rezound on eBay for ~$500 when the GNex comes out. If I didn't profit I'd at least not lose much.
