***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Thank you. Anyone know Amazon's return policy? Is it 14 days as well?

Amazon has a 30-day policy for their phones. However, last time I checked, Verizon still had the 14-day policy effectively bringing amazon's return period to 14 if you wanted to return and get your upgrade back.

I haven't kept up with the changes to Verizon's policy, but I believe Amazons is still 30 days for the phone itself.

Jeez, Verizon just can't win, can they?

They don't specify a release date, because they don't know it yet. Reaction: JUST TELL US THE DATE! I HATE VERIZON!

They want to test the phone to ensure, to the best of their ability, that the LTE version works correctly on their network. Reaction: STOP DELAYING! I HATE VERIZON!

When people demand more information, they respond to inquiries by saying "We haven't determined the date yet, and we want to make sure the phone works right before we release it." Reaction: THEY'RE LYING! I HATE VERIZON!

Suppose they had announced it and then had to miss it -- which is exactly what would have happened if they'd announced 11/17 or 11/21 -- the reaction would have been STOP LYING TO US! I HATE VERIZON!

If they just went ahead and released the phone now, which is what so many people seem to want for some reason, the reaction would be THIS PHONE IS A BUGGY PIECE OF CRAP! I HATE VERIZON!

Apparently, there is literally nothing they can do that won't anger people. Is it any surprise that they continue to ignore the complaints? I would.

Here's an experiment. Seriously, everybody try this:

For just a moment, try assuming that Verizon is not evil or incompetent. Assume that they actually want to release the phone and sell it, and that they are working as hard as they can to get the phone to us, taking into account all of the complicated factors they have to worry about. Assume that they will release it as soon as they possibly can -- after all, at the moment it is only costing them money -- and they will tell us as soon as they know when that will be.

Try thinking positive thoughts: "Wow, too bad there are bugs, but I'm glad Verizon found them. I'm going to hope that their people find a solution quickly."

Yes, we're all frustrated and disappointed that the Galaxy Nexus isn't out already. But maybe, just maybe, it's nobody's fault.

A lot of us agree with you 110% and this sentiment has been shared generously (with different words) throughout this thread. I'm with ya and appreciate your post rock on brother.

On second thought, bring me the head of the "Can you hear me now?" guy....I want to wear HIS head as a hat.

I see that Verizon does one thing well....If you need a cell phone company to make cool commercials featuring lightning, chicks fighting robots, or motorcycles with sharp protrusions...Verizon is your company....

Releasing phones......giving people release dates......not so much

Burn in Hell Verizon....you jacked up morons!!!

As I look about this thread, I see only great posts - with opinions of varying stripes, perfectly ok - from members who are all too happy to follow our simple rules. :)

I've written and run an advanced simulation to model anything else and the results are in - anything else that may seem to be missing, _really isn't_. ;)

Except of course for the actual official release date from VZW and/or Nexasaurus in everyone's hand! ;) :)

Hope this helps, gang!

OK people I'm gonna start a poll here.

If you think I should wait on the Nexus without getting a rental thank this post.

If you think I should go a head and get a rental thank this post.

Fine its a lame attempt to see how many thanks I can get in one post :D

What if we have a different answer? Do we still thank you.... : )

Depends on your circumstances. If your current phone is on your last legs, then go ahead and rent. If your current phone is older but working decently, wait in agony like many of us.

I asked my sister:

(non-quoted for ease)

How do you know it's definite?

She texted back:

Three different people have told me.

So, my question is, are these people at Verizon reading the blogs and talking about it, or is it based on inside info?

So I texted:

Blog readers or inside grapevine?

She texted back:

Huh?

I texted back:

Idiot, are they getting info from internet or VZ bosses?

She texted back:

I don't know, but one of them should know from VZ corp. Idiot!

I know this is worse news than if it was going to come out tomorrow or BF or whatnot...

But come on, it's not all that terrible...

It's a short work week for those of you that have jobs. We all get to eat an insane amount of amazing food, and those of us 21 or older get to booze it up.

And after you are all done eating and plop yourself in front of the TV to watch whatever it is you watch on Thanksgiving, you have the satisfaction of knowing you are exactly 2 weeks away from Nexus goodness. :D

Could always be worse

Yes, we're all frustrated and disappointed that the Galaxy Nexus isn't out already. But maybe, just maybe, it's nobody's fault.

Again, I think the reason most people are mad is because Verizon is jerking us around. By that I mean, they KNOW what's holding the phone back and instead of telling folks what the issue is, they are choosing to ignore customers.

You might ask, well they're trying to protect the GNex from a harmful reputation that might hurt sales. Two things to that:

1. Keep it vague. Even releasing a tweet stating that more information will be released about the Nexus once all issues are cleared would be good enough. In fact, higher ups keep emailing people that contact them making similar statements.

2. Anyone remember that antenna issue with the iPhone 4? Looking back, I realize that while Jobs was rather arrogant about the issue, at least he addressed the freaking issue...And that address came from one of the most controlling CEOs (in terms of information) ever...

Here is another interesting article, which mentions the GNex.

Android OS mobiles gain on iPhone in smartphone war

And here is the passage I found most interesting...
Samsung will soon introduce a new flagship Android device with Bell called the Galaxy Nexus. The handset comes loaded with Bell's own applications, like its Mobile TV service. "Others are far more proscriptive [on terms and conditions] and they deliver the device to the carrier the way it is," Mr. Brennan said.
"You don't like to be held at ransom by any one handset maker," a Bay Street analyst source said. Though they will not say publicly, "everyone [in Canada] is trying to get away from the [Apple] model," the person said.

Apparently Bell is being allowed to put their own apps on it as well.

P.S. Oh, and it gets a pretty clean shot in on apple as well.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall when the two of you are actually in the same room.

Well, today my wife and I each ordered a Rezound from Amazon for one cent each as new Verizon customers. It was too good a deal to pass up, especially when you're needing to purchase two phones. I will miss not having the Galaxy Nexus but I don't think I'm settling much by getting the Rezound. I'll keep following the thread (just not as religiously) in large measure because it's a great community of interesting people who for the most part get along and are very entertaining.

I hope all the Nexites will have their phones soon with no problems, 32GB of storage, and a wonderfully awesome experience.

OK everyone. Take a deep breath. Breathe into a paper bag if you need to.

Verizon IS NOT going to announce the date until they are ready to sell/preorder the phone. They don't want to deal with rent-a-phone people (which this forum is full of). They have plenty of other phones they want to push out the door and they are in no rush to get this phone to market because they know they have a slam dunk here. They paid a lot of money to hold all the cards for this Nexus, and their most important goal is maximizing profits for their shareholders... not to appease enthusiasts who they know the vast majority have the patience to wait. If you don't like that fact and hate Verizon for it, then go get an S2 with some other carrier.

Keep cool kiddies.
