BabyBlues,

I tried to slide back into the shadows, but I'm still here. Should've deleted the post I guess. :p

Edit: well, look at that. Post #100. And I'd bet every single one of them is either about the DInc or this Galaxy Nexus.

No shadow hiding allowed. And now you're at 100 you're definitely one of us.

Both Samsung and Corning independently confirmed Gorilla Glass would not be on the Galaxy Nexus; Corning via Twitter, Samsung via Facebook:

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Won't Have Gorilla Glass

I actually haven't heard anything more about the whole Lotus Glass thing since it first popped up again today.

The GNex has neither Gorilla Glass, nor Lotus Glass, per Corning.

Gorilla Glass is a trademark name for Aluminosilicate glass. There is nothing special about it, and many manufacturers use fortified glasses.

Dunno if anyone here has said this...

Someone over at AC just pointed out that is you search Verizon's site for "Galaxy Nexus" you get a results pages with the Nexus banner up top, but if you search "Nexus Prime" you get redirected straight to the sign-up page. Interesting.

Nice find. Perhaps it's because there are other phones on Verizon that contain the keyword "Galaxy" but none that contain "Nexus" or "Prime". Or maybe they knew it was rumored to be called that so they made it redirect if you searched that. But it's definitely an interesting observation nonetheless...

Question:

Are we all more calm, now, in here? :) I am. 32 gb, baby. Steven is happy.

there's a Russian saying which roughly translates to: when is a poor person happy? When he loses something and then finds it again.

Its usually used to describe oneself as the poor person, happy for getting something they had in the first place. I don't know if you guys see the humor in this.

The website still calls it Galaxy Nexus regardless of which name you search by.... :)

WARNING!

If you have unlimited data now, you will LOSE it if you EVER drop it! That's my understanding. They will restore you, alright: to tiered data.
You could always go to a place like Swappa, get a cheap smartphone to use until Nexus is released, and then sell it again (or keep it as a spare).

I have a scenario to report being we have the time.

My OG Droid quit and I called Verizon about making a claim and firing up my Env2 until the claim came came through. I was told to call the Ins Co and in the meantime lets get that Env2 going.

They were thinking out loud as they were working the keyboard firing it up and said out loud "The Unlimited Data will have to come off because it will not apply to the the Env2"

I said "Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Hold it, I'll just go without until the new OGD gets here."

I was assured in the case of failed hardware it can be stopped and started again as long as the replacement is a smart phone.

It went as said. A tad scary but it happened. Just Sayin.......

Kind of funny story to illustrate Verizon's competence or at least the CSR that took my warranty replacement.

Story starts like this. OG DROID finally kicked the bucket. Before breaking down, using my upgrade and getting a rental Rezound or RAZR I checked to see if my warranty was out or not yet. Turns out it was not (I guess that is the extended warranty) and I decided to get another one shipped to me instead of risking going out of the 14 day activation with the others. I had it overnighted on Friday to ensure it got here at least Monday or Tuesday instead of the standard "3 to 5" business days with the upcoming holiday. Today I got the package delivered via FedEX and was happy. Well, I go out to check my mailbox and find another package suspiciously the same size as the one with my replacement DROID. I open it up and low and behold it is another replacement DROID. I looked over the customer receipts and they contained the same order number/SKU's and essentially were identical as far as I could tell. I kind of chuckled to myself and thought what idiots and boxed both of them up. Essentially Verizon created more work for me b/c I have to make separate trips to FedEX and the post office to send one of their mistakes off. Their lucky I'm an honest person or I would have kept one and seen if they noticed anything.

Anyways.. Other than following this thread I have been busy rooting and setting up my phone to status quo before it died. I guess it has given me a little something to do to keep me from thinking about the GNex all the time. Then again it depresses me playing with a phone that is far inferior. Oh well, hopefully the wait isn't to much longer.

I'm not even sure what I'm going to do with all that space. I'm so used to having only 16 GB on my iPad, and that's with music actually occupying space... My phone is going to be so empty.
Movies will chew up a lot, especially HD movies. Start doing that and you will find yourself limited very quickly. If they offered a 128GB version, I would pony up the extra.
