LG Eve on BELL......

Hey guys and gals,

i just got a LG Eve and unlocked it to use on the Bell network, so far so good except for a few minor things things that i can't seem to figure out and was hoping somebody here might be able to help.

1- when i send a SMS from the touch screen and using T9 how do i make it so the keys don't make a noise?
2- also how do i make it so that when i get an SMS it doesn't show a preview but just a envelope ( i could do this on my samsung galaxy)
3- now that i have this on Bell i was wondering if there is a way to get rid of the preloaded stuff from Rogers, ie. MyAccount, Shop and MY5?

if you have the answer to 1 or all of these questions your help would be greatly appreciated.

may i ask how much did you pay for your lg eve ?

for issue 1:
you should find settings in messenger itself, or settings to hide the sound.
that can save on some battery power as we know it's a hog on battery life.

for issue 2:
i never had success doing that, i would like to know how to do that too.

for issue 3:

since your phone is 'unlocked' i would think you have the ablitly to uninstall any apps pre-loaded. go to settings, manage applications, then pull up the app you want to dump and see what option it gives you. i got my eve from rogers approx 1 mth ago, i wish i could get rid of stuff i'll never use, moxier, telenav (i have a stand alone gps and not intrested in spending an extra $10/mth to subscribe),google talk & others i can't remember at the moment. i wonder if i put the app in my trash can it will not pop up in my advanced task killer. i must try that as my phone is locked. did you buy a code from ebay to unlock your eve?

An unlocked phone won't let you remove the Rogers applications. You have to root the phone so that you can access the system files and delete the apps. I recently did that for my wife's Eve.

I followed this guide to get root access to the Eve. I did have a few problems with getting the LG drivers recognized on my Win 7 PC, but I got there in the end.

If you're fairly comfortable with doing a little hacking you should be OK.

I will start a new thread in the Eve forum with the instructions that I used to root and then remove the Rogers apps.

Hey, great to see someone is using this phone on Bell. I just bought a used LG Eve that was on Rogers and I want to use it to Bell as well. The phone was rooted and Openetna was installed by the previous owner, but it wasn't unlocked. Did you need to unlock it with a working Rogers SD card? When I follow the instructions at Stargazer's Garage: Unlock LG Eve GW620 Android Phone I get "mobile network not available". Anybody help me out?

I guess the phone must have been unlocked. Not sure what did it, but it's working with my Bell SIM now. I played around with the mobile setting and took the card out and moved it a bit. The guy at the Bell store accidentally gave me a microSIM, which is too small, but now seems to be working. Thanks anyways, as a newbie, i'm sure I'll have a few more questions.
