I just copied my current 2GB that I have in my phone to the computer, then from the computer, to the new card.

Once it's in your Hero, you can delete all that was on your "laying around" 4GB micro SD card. Hope this helps you upgrade your card!!!!

You know 8 GB are roughly 20 now a days! :)

make sure to partition your card the same as you did your other, if your running a2sd then you need to back up all of your apps or uninstall/delete them and the reinstall them on your new

TOTALLY...."IF" your first 2GB card was partitioned, then you must make sure the new one is also. If no partition was made on the 2GB, then don't even worry about the word "partition".....unless of course you would like to utilize the app2card feature :)

uhh what the hell is partition? lol sorry, i just copied everything over from the 2gb to the 4gb and i think it is working fine

You can find all that info on this thread here

If you have ROOTED your phone, then it might be something you are interested in...the thread even goes into why one would "partition" an SD card in the first place :) Hope this helps!!!!

I take this will work for any android phone including the Desire; After all they all run versions of the same operating system.

Call me thick (may people do) but when you talk about deleting all that was on the card you don't mean the files phone files that were copied to the new card in the upgrade process do you??

Howdy All --- well I just added an 8 GB card to my Hero. I am not rooted but use it for storage of pics, flicks, data, text etc. presently.

My ultimate goal is to end up rooted with either a stock or enhanced 2.1 OFFICIAL ROM image. At that time I will be partitioning a 16 GB device between ext3 and fat32 partitions.

Just wanted to say had no trouble upsizing but my configuration was easy, without being rooted presently. I also had a chance to compare a Japan-made device to a Chinese-made device and noticed better write speed (not alot but some - file upload from computer to Hero) by the Japan device. I compared, and finally used, a Class 4 device.

Thanks for sharing your info above. --- Bob. :D

I considered the pros and cons of what size and type of Micro SD card to purchase and here is what I did and why.

First, we know our capacity options range from 2 to 16 GB. Our speed is categorized by class 2, 4, & 6. Six being the fastest and most expensive.

Now I like video and music both, so there is never going to be enough storage space. Hence I choose a 16GB card.

I bought a class 4 a couple of months ago on eBay (be very careful many scammers on eBay are selling fake cards. Buy only from sellers with over 300 feedback scores, preferably Top-Rated sellers) for $42 including shipping. A 16GB class 6 would have cost me over $65 at that time.

Remember that the speed difference is completely irrelevant when playing media; it only matters when copying or loading files and then it's only measured in seconds or fractions of seconds.

So a class 2 card (stock) may give your phone a slower response time when loading some applications. A class 6 will give us the best response time but I just can't justify the significant additional cost.

Bottom line my choice: 16GB class 4

No regrets.
