Accessories Music dock?

The iPhone has tons of one-piece docks that have speakers built in, and they also puts the iPhone in charge mode rather than using the phone itself for the juice. I'd rather not have to use a Motorola dock attached to a couple of inconvenient speakers with wires hanging all over the place (why couldn't they have put speakers in their docks? why??) So far I've seen a few generic brands that look like iPhone docking stations, but the difference is that they do not have a micro attachment that charges your phone instead of relying on the phone battery. All they do is plug into the audio jack. What are the options for the Atrix? Do we have any?

I have always been annoyed at the iPhone dock domination of the music docks. I know that the iPhone was the main smartphone in 2007 and what not but its 2011 and no Android dock station? From anyone?

I would love to have a dock for my Droid Incredible. I would just be happy with a dock that both charges, and plays stereo out of my phone. If it works well with Pandora that would be a huge plus.

Well, ANDROID might be outpacing iOS BUT the iPhone is far outpacing any other single piece of hardware. Now, if all android phones had the same exact connectivity setup, I'm sure we'd see tons of speaker docks, etc, for android. Since pretty much not one single android phone compares with the next, I just don't see that happening.

Now, if it were possible to build a 'universal' dock, with a re-positionable micro-USB and maybe a short 3.5mm headphone connector, that would be something. You could configure the micro-usb to match your phone, then connect the 3.5mm plug into headphone port and you'd be all set.

Why doesnt someone make an iphone/ipod like speaker docking station (like the hundreds/thousands that are out there - BUT make the connector/adapter so that it can be universal? Meaning - sell the speakers with a set of 5-10 of the most common adapters that could be plugged into the station (hit the 10 biggest phones and make sure that it includes a connector for it).

This would be a universal adroid/MP3 player docking station that does NOT use the 3.5mm cord.

Who do you have to email to plant this idea in these companies heads?

I use to feel the same way, until I bought the standard dock. I prefer it over the type of docks the iphone has. I hook the dock up to my computer speakers and my home audio system, which sound so much better then those other docks. (Try playing angry birds in surround sound.) Also, the dock is portable and at the perfect viewing ange for the alarm clock mode and to view movies. :D

I appreciate the feedback but I am just looking for a little shelf stereo system for my 11 yo daughter to use with her phone. If anyone knows of a connector other than the 3.5mm cord I would appreciate it.

Why spend the money on a shelf stereo. (I don't think there is any shelf stereo systems that you could use that doesn't use the 3.5 to receive the audio from the Atrix.) If you buy the standard dock, which will charge the phone as well as play all media thru a set of speakers, it would do the same thing. Correct me if I'm wrong, but those charging docks for the Iphone, some are just speakers and maybe a clock or a little radio with the docking station included. If you need it as a clock radio, etc. then just look for one that has the 3.5mm jack. Get a double male audio cable and your set.
