Help Disappearing SD Card & Files

I've had this Sprint EVO 4g (unrooted)for about a year and installed an 8gb SD card from Best Buy at the same time. Recently for no reason the phone will not recognize the SD card. I have tried:
1: Sync-Will not sync with any computer I use
2:Card Reader for PC. It sees the files but when I try to copy files or drive the files disappear.
3: EVO does not see the SD drive anymore I can not mount or unmount card.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have a number of pictures and apps on this card and would not like to lose them.

I'm having the same issue, I posted a thread and no one is responding to it as well.

Open a dos box on your computer with the card in a card reader and run:

chkdsk x: /f/r
replace x with the drive letter of your card.

No, because as soon as you do it, the drive goes offline and CMD responds with: "cannot open volume for direct access".

I've already tried that

I've even tried slipping a normal sd card into the reader while running it and all it does is lock up. It will say windows is verifying files and folders and just sits at 0%.
