Help Wildfire S internal Memory Solution

Hi Guys

Can any developer can develop a software where Wildfire S reads only SD card instead of inbuilt(internal memory).I mean to say the default memory as the SD card so that we will have lot of space for wildfire S apps and other Stuff. Use the internal memory for ROM RAM or any other purpose.

Can any one or any developer can try this and let us know so that we can Solve problem of internal memory solution.

I am not a Developer , just has an idea in mind so posted it.

There is a command you can run that forces apps to install on the SD Card, but it doesn't work with all versions of the handset unfortunately.

Without doing that, only a certain number of apps can be moved to SD card.

Link2SD isn't a valid option?

There are ways to force everything to the sd card, however after a while functionality drops off considerably. That and I really don't want to play with symlinks on boot...we're talking about an HTC device here.

But have you moved the built-in apps like gmail, facebook to the SD card.
Also i have installed quickoffice, Go launcher ex, moboplayer and few other apps which i'm not able to move to the SD card.
Any solution?

You can only move the ones you installed, not system apps. You can move ALL of the ones you haved installed except the link2sd itself. I use it on my wife's phone which like the wildfire s has limited internal app space.
It allows you to move apps that aren't normally allowed to be moved to the sd card.

I performed steps described in this topic and everything went well. I could move Google Reader, Google Docs, and some other apps (I cannot move Facebook, Yahoo Messager though ). It saved me over 10MB. I think you should make a try

But in this topic it is given as the OS should be 2.2(Froyo). Will it work for 2.3 too?

Hi each,

Hope you can help? I am really disappointed with my wildfire s, the reason being is my memory is so full i can not even acces my photo gallery. I hardly have any apps downloaded apart from Whats app and memory seems to be full. I have 1G memory card but I cant seem to transfer anything off my phone memory to the SD memory!! Any one please help????

Hi Jae, have you tried clearing the app cache etc via the manage apps menu? Also, do you have a lot of SMS messages on there? They can take up space on the phone.

Also, the link above will force apps to install to the SD Card if you want to try that?

I've added Darktremor's Apps2sd support to a couple stock roms on xda (which allows all programs and dalvik vm to be moved to sdcard [VM USA and US Cellular]). As soon as you do something you think is nice though; others will want something different (ie data2wherever or other variants). Until you get something to move everything, you're going to wrestle with it though, or at least I did.

Yeah, a certain portion is retained on the phones data partition. The amount will vary app to app.

You should be more concerned with occassionally clearing out storage used by Facebook (and email, etc). I find that having 1 or 2 more large apps on your Phone that do not reside on SD card with Wildfire S can have a crippling effect. I simply removed ESPN Scorecenter and little else and using my S became like night and day.

also, Facebook and other "temporary" files caused my phone to completely stop syncing on only the 2nd or 3rd day of use with no error message, low storage warning, or other sign of failure. and this is while only having a few downloaded apps on my phone.

I installed MARKETFIX, that helped to download applications even when the internal memory is low.
I had previously installed SUPER TOOL. I like this tool as it gives you a warning that an new application can be move to the SD card as soon as it is installed.
I then installed DISKUSAGE, that application really pointed out where the memory was used. My wife's phone was down to about 9MB and no matter what I try to stop/clear using SETTINGS or SUPER TOOL, I could not increase the size of the internal memory. DISKUSAGE showed me applications that were still using memory for no reason. Once I cleaned up everything, I was left with a bit over 25 MB of internal memory.
I also installed MOBILEGO, allowing me to manipulate the phone directory (add, change move on the fly) as well as work with pictures or music files. This application also allows for a backup of the phone to the PC.

I wouldn't move EVERYTHING, I would just move it to move a couple of big apps.

Also, what's the catch? I mean if apps were all meant to be moved on to the SD card, wouldn't Android allow for this option in the first place? So I have to assume there's a catch somewhere.

EDIT: The app description says it's only for rooted phones. The wildfire s is still unrooted (well, mine is). Does that mean it won't work?

Yes, you have to be rooted.
