Help From WinMo to Android, looking for similar features

I recently switched from the Touch Pro 2 with a 6.5.3 ROM to the Moment. I grew tired of the instability of WinMo and decided to jump ship to Android with a hard keyboard, so the Moment was my choice. I do miss the hardware of the TP2, but there are some software features I wish I still had, which are from HTC mainly, but maybe there are some 3rd party (preferably free) that will get me by until I can get the Supersonic (I know, no keyboard, but the bigger screen fixes that :)). Thanks for your help!

1. Panoramic camera mode mainly, but also more camera features... seems bare (and slow!) with the Moment.

2. Vibrate on Long Press End Key. I have it set to Silent, but I just want a quiet notification, not nothing at all!

3. Automatically set to vibrate during appts. I think this was an HTC feature too, but it was really handy! Saves me from the embarrassment if I forget to set to silent or vibrate during a meeting. I've read that Locale does this, along with some other cool stuff, but it's $10, plus people say it causes instability.

Lots of free apps that do all you're asking.

1) CameraFX is free and contains a few different filters including panoramic. There are also some great paid apps (Camera ZOOM - $2) that give even more functionality.

2) Widgets. There are tons of them that are free on the marketplace. Puts a button on your screen you just press.

3) I don't use it but there is an app for that, too. I read about it on these boards and thought it was interesting but didn't need it myself.

Also, in case you don't want to play with the browser marketplace, here's the marketplace in PC form: Latest applications and games for Android - AndroidZoom.com

With the installation of Barcode Scanner from the marketplace, just scan the bar code on the website and it'll take you to the app on your phone.

2) I rooted my phone and removed the Nuance junk. The only time I might use it is when driving, and that's not safe anyway. It means that the button is available and right now maps to my call log. However I've not looked yet at mapping it to another function.

3) There is an app you want called Tasker. Tasker for Android However he isn't distributing it widely yet as far as I know. I've not identified any similar apps.

I used to have an AT&T Tilt, which was the predecessor to your old WinMo phone. Although the battery life was superior to the Moment, I really love phone. BTW, installing Zefie's kernel greatly improved my battery life. I only charge every two days.

What other benefits do you get from rooting? I know you can remove their crapware, didn't know about the improved battery life. What version of Android can you put on by rooting? 1.6? I don't think it's 2.0/2.1, right?? I've looked at that wiki, but I didn't see a full description of what you get by flashing his stuff. The battery life alone would be worth it though. I'm at 15% by 5pm with moderate usage. With the TP2 I'd still be at 70-80% by 10pm!

The only two concrete reasons for rooting are to improve battery life and to remove Sprint apps. Those are enough for me! I even removed apps such as Amazon just to reinstall them in case there are updates.

I think they've done some of their own fixes to apps but to be honest I've not paid attention to them. You might look in the SDX developers forum to see what they describe versus the wiki.

Once you root you will want to stick with updates from the SDX guys. However you can always reflash the Sprint stock ROM to go back to their normal update cycle.

Hi,
I've published a nice app that does this and more. Please look for "Vibrate During Meetings" in the market.

Thanks!
