iTunes App?

What am I missing? Wouldn't Apple make a bundle by selling an iTUnes app? I would gladly pay a few bucks for the app as I sure every non-iphone user would. I mean I got it for my PC, so that horse is already out of the barn. 95% of my music is AAC protected and I can't play it anywhere except my ipod. Is there hope out there?

itunes is currently DRM free. ever since they switched to the new 3 tier pricing system it has been DRM free. you can also upgrade your music to be DRM free.

You are right..i've never heard of DT. I just checked out their site and it's exactly what I need. Being an avid iTunes user a lot of my music was purchased from the itunes store and I didnt know how I could get it onto my phone. Does this program play the music from itunes natively on my phone or does it convert the file to .mp3?

I know you can play mp3's nativly on the ipod but iTunes just did such a good job of integrating a player and a store into their itunes app. In 2005 when I first started using itunes it seemed liek the best thing out there.. Now it's 2010 and a have a ton of music I've purchased from the itunes store and am committed...It's not a bad thing. I havent been turned onto anything that would convice me to change at this point.

I agree totally.
Plus if you start listening to music on your phone all the time the dam thing will be dead when you need to make a call....lol
Sorry to say that there isn't anything out there that comes close to the ipod touch/itunes interface.
Love My Eris for what it is....a dam smart phone....

I just got iMusic..great app..I cant imagine how long they will stay afloat given the nature of their app. I know it's peer to peer but it seems like they all get shut down eventually...

Not sure, I converted our whole library to DRM-free MP3's for free a while ago.

I would imagine it wouldn't since it's not an authorized device. The only options are to pay to have them converted or do the write-rip workaround.

I feel really sorry for those who have used iTunes so much. Don't you get it that Apple designed it to KEEP you using it forever? Pretty lame, if you ask me. I stay away from companies that try to make everything they make exclusive to only their equipment, or make you pay even more if you want to use it somewhere else. Don't you pay enough for the product in the first place without having to get ripped off even more?

Sorry to say that there isn't anything out there that comes close to the ipod touch/itunes interface.

Ok, I'll take that challenge.

Open your ipod touch up. Go into the music player. Select genre and pick a genre. Now play all the songs in that genre shuffled.

To take a note from Verizon marketing....Droid Does.

This is one of my complaints about Apple in general. They claim to have the best and their users claim it is the best too, but their products tend to fall short in many departments.

There's a workaround but it may take some time depending on how many songs you have. Here's what I did:

Acquire a CD-RW
Make a new playlist called convert
Drag a number of protected songs to the convert playlist to total <80 min.
Burn playlist to CD-RW
Once burned, import back to iTunes as MP3.

DRM will be removed when you burn the audio disc allowing you to rip it back as unprotected MP3.

Not the sexiest but it works. There are programs around there that purport to allow you to convert your DRM music but they either cost, don't work, or both...

***Edit to add: Found this software that might work for you. It has a free version. I've never used it so YMMV. It skips the whole burn to CD rip back and just "burns" the playlist to a virtual CD drive.

Sure, you can't play music ALL day long without another charge (with the standard battery). But how many people don't have a computer/laptop available to them sometime during the day where they can quickly plug in their phone to give it a little more juice? Odds are, if you are affording a smart phone with a data plan, you are also around a computer quite often.

There is NO WAY this thing would be able to play music for 4 hours on a plane (I travel A LOT) and be functional without me running to find an AC outlet in an airport or hotel. It's unfortunate but it's true. Droid DOESNT when it comes to being ready on a moments notice.

You're comparing an Ipod to a smartphone. Would the iPhone be able to play music for 4 hours on a plane, then be functional without charging? I have numerous friends who complain about their iPhone. An iPod is not a fair comparison, imo.

Second and even third batteries are cheaper and easier to carry around.
