Hi,

I have a VM Optimus V with 2.2.1 android on it. I've been looking for an app I can use to record phone conversations both incoming and outgoing calls. I tried "record my call" but it says the device is not supported.

I've seen where other people have suggested just using the voice recorder that came bundled but I don't see anything like that in the apps list. There is just voice dial and google voice neither of which seem like they can be used for this purpose.

I don't mind paying a couple bucks for it so long as it works reliably and is supported on this device. I just want to make sure it is before paying for it.

Thanks!!

Before you think about recording phone conversations, you should check out federal and state laws first. Some states require by law (and perhaps some federal laws) that you let the person know right at the beginning of the conversation that they are being recorded, some states require that both parties consent, some states make it completely illegal, and some states are still debating the issues.

I live in a single party consent state and have definite need to record a call, and soon, an antagonistic auto insurance company.

A good app for that would be Tape-a-talk. It's a free android app available in the Market. The sound quality is great and you can tape for as long as you'd like.

Thanks, I tried this one, but it seems like it only records what is heard by the external mic. If I have the call on speaker phone it sounds reasonable I guess. But if the call is made normally the other person's voice is really feeble because it's just the small amount that reverberates into the mic. If I can't find a better one, I'll have to make do with this though.

I've used total recall it seems to work the best out of what I've tried.

Wow, did this run for you on an optimus V? I just installed it and tried calls using all four recording formats. It was unbelievably bad, garbled. Sounded like some alien language or something. The only one that sounded remotely accurate was wav format but when it played back it was at like 1/10 normal speed. I do like the triggering methods and configurability of it but it just doesn't seem workable.

How do I make it work on the Droid4?
This is the LG Optimus V phone forum. The members over at the Droid4 forum will be able to answer your questions a whole lot better then members of the LG Optimus V forum will. Don't you think? There are enough things different about the two phones you might not get the best advice for your phone here.
