Help Contacts Disappear From Phone - Anyone Else Have this Problem?

Noticed this problem on other phones, but not one in the Incredible subforum so I wanted to post here.

This is happening randomly and I can't pinpoint an event that triggers it.

Contacts will just end up deleted from my phone. I'll go to look on gmail, and they won't be there either.

Sometimes I don't even notice for a while since I have over 300 contacts in my phone. I SMSed my friend a few days ago and everything was fine. Today, I went to SMS him again, and to my surprise, only his phone # was displayed. Went to search for him in contacts, he was gone! Went to gmail - deleted from there too! He's also my friend on facebook, and his facebook info was in the phone, but was no longer linked. His google contact information had simply vanished. Fortunately the only thing I "lost" was his work phone #, but had I not had any SMS messages from him, I wouldn't have had his mobile # either.

This is not the first time this has happened and is a tad disconcerting. How do I know that I haven't lost other contacts?

Does anyone know the cause of this problem... has this happened to anyone else?

This has been happening to me as well. Favorites widget loses assigned phone numbers, speed dial randomly deletes names and numbers and contacts disappear. When I go into the contacts app online via google.com/contacts, the lost contacts were somehow moved to "other". I needed to move them to "my contacts" so that they would re-appear on my phone.

As a business phone, this device needs a lot of help. I have to re-assign speed dials daily.

Phone gremlins, perhaps???

Same here....I have had to re-assign my speed dial entries 5 times already in the past month. Wondering if it has anything to do with having to delete and re-create my exchange email account which randomly stops syncing with my corporate email server. Not sure what the correlation could be but I'm experiencing both of these issues.

Thankfully, the crappy battery life was rectified by Verizon sending me a new battery.

HTC tech support told me to delete all my third-party apps because "it must be something I installed". I think she was nothing more than a call center operator who put me on hold to ask another operator what they thought. Very unprofessional.

Just this morning, my boss's contact info was deleted and moved to the "other" category. I had to again access contacts via google website and manually move it back to my contacts. Perhaps this is a Google issue??

My HTC Favorite widget also deletes the number assigned to the photo randomly. Nothing seems to work correctly, at least for me.

This problem is still occuring! I noticed that one of my friends that's a favorite in my contacts keeps getting deleted. She had 3 linked accounts. 2 Google and 1 facebook. The google account with her # and personal email address keeps getting deleted and I don't know why! When I log in to google, it keeps moving her to the "other contacts" category and deleting her info! This is getting very annoying. Has anyone found a resolution to this problem?

Ive been having this problem with my Cliq. When I add a new contact it seems to stick until google updates. Then its gone. Same thing with adding new numbers and deleting old ones. I keep calling my best friends old number over and over because it wont update his new one. Poor guy who got his old number keeps getting bothered by me! I rooted the thing recently and it seems that NO numbers stick now where as before some would and some would not. We need to get to the bottom of this.

Perhaps if we all post up all of the apps we have then we can compare for similarities?

Wow. no corp email icon anymore!!!! Not even in my apps! I go to regular email app and my corp email is there.. created a new short cut. BUT it wont give me ANY notification.. nothing, my Notification status is checked, plus should vibrate and ring AND show a "number" next to corp email icon (as it was all doing perfectly for weeks)

Motorola customer service isn't even looking at the same screen as my Droid X so foreign speaking very hard to understand lady kept having me look for information that did not exist. Now she has to escalate it. Wow.
Also asked if there was any way to search for a name or other info "within my Microsoft Outlook email I use for Corp email on my Droid" Example.. Kathy. OR a corporate name for example.
Instead I get every Kathy in my phone including facebook and online!

Hello,

I found something interesting! I must tell you before that I was unable to synchronize in safe mode (as HTC support tell me). The unit could not find HTC Sync on my PC. And I don't want to make a factory reset (as they tell me to do too). by
Then in normal mode, I tried to sync my contacts and my speed dials only remained. I then tried adding another item to be synchronized (calendar) and my speed dials are missing. I started the procedure and I noticed that when I sync the first time after entering my speed dial, they remain in memory. If I sync again, that is there and what they disappear, no matter if I sync right away, without disconnecting my phone from the PC or leave it plugged in and clicking on the "Sync Now". I also tried saving the contacts to the SIM card and SD card but it is always the same: the second timing after entering my speed dials, the numbers disappear unless, of course, that of my voice mail.

The case is in HTC support hands and I look forward to have a fix soon. !!!

P.S.: Sorry if the translation is weird, I "Google translate" my french message.

I just bought my first Android Phone and the idea of having all my contacts on Gmail seemed to be a good idea until I went to meet a friend who I had just smsed before leaving home and when I arrived and tried to call her to see where she was her number had vanished from the phone. Luckily I had her smses on the phone because otherwise she would have thought that I just decided not to turn up!
I dont use facebook on my phone and I dont use any strange applications .. so I doubt that this has anything to do with with any software on the phone.. I think that Google have some sort of bug when syncing to the phones. or else they have been restoring data to an earlier date.. Can someone out there enlighten us on where the problem is?

... most people complain that their contacts disappear when they only have the contact stored as a "phone" contact. I personally have had my contacts stored to google since day one and I can always rely on them being there.
Are you using VZW backup assistant also? Or are you using any other e-mail program that stores contacts?
