Help Pinch zoom, Double tap debate

Okay, a bit worried to start this debate over again but having tried both on the Nexus, I quite like the double-tap to zoom down on a web page.

Main reason being that the web text resizes to fit the phone screen size (e.g. forum threads) that is more difficult to achieve quickly with pinch-zoom.

only double tap will readjust the column width of web pages to fit the screen... so both are quite useful... sometimes I use double tap - for reading articles and such, and sometimes I use pinch-to-zoom, for maps, pics, etc.

xscope browser has the best implimentation of zoom. the pin and zoom or whatever they call it, basically you double tap but on the second tap you hold it and either drag your finger up to zoom in or down to zoom out. best of both worlds

Double tap. Not only because of the column wrap, but also the fact that I can do it with my thumb, i.e. use the phone one-handed.

Pinch-zoom has it uses, though, but if I'm browsing then double-tap is my preferred method.

I double tap, and if that doesn't work as well as I'd like, I pinch and zoom. Simples.

I tend to do what everyone else is doing, but occasionally double-tap zooms more than I want. This is another nice thing about having pinch to zoom. I concur with mi_canuck about P2Z being a preferred method on maps. Its extremely helpful there.

Double-tap here as well, it just works great in the browser; the only time I use p2z in the browser is for zooming in on pictures.

Guess I'm a loner here. Pinch/Zoom always.

Double-tap leaves me with really BIG or reeeaally tiny letters. With Pinch/Zoom I can zoom to a comfortable level.

One thing I'd love to see is the option to lose the zoom/zoom out buttons. They get in the way of scrolling sometimes.

YES!! the buttons are stupid. if anything have a transparent strip at the bottom that fades in/out with the left being double tap for zoom in, middle double tap for middle zoom, and left double tap for zoom out. I can picture it now, + | o | - fading in at the bottom of my screen if I tap once, and double tapping the three different areas as I please.

The more I imagine it there the more I like my idea. I'm not crazy I swear.

actually the pin to zoom is better. You can choose how much to zoom in and out all still while using one hand where as in the case of pinch and zoom you can only do it comfortably with two hands, and double tapping doesnt allow you to choose how far to zoom in or out. pin to zoom = best of both worlds

I disagree, I pinch-zoom with one hand all the time and with no problems. Use your thumb and index finger. It's not difficult at all.

i'm just glad we have BOTH options - double tap AND pinch-to-zoom... as I use BOTH

Double Tap is better for Browser, pinch to zoom better for Gallery and Maps. We have best of both worlds now.

Na. Not the only one. I use one hand also. I p2z to the size text I want and then a quick double tap to fit the screen. Best of both worlds. Now If they would just update the ui on the windows more like Dolphin would be great and also the ability to go between windows like dolphin and steel. That would make it complete for me as of now.

Incremental zooming for maximizing the right zoomage. Agree, they get in the way though.
