Which PRL did you use, and what region are you in?

i used sprints 60681 prl im at brownville tx

Were you comparing same location and same time of day?

i tried the same location different times throughout the day getting same speeds

Did u by any chance just reboot? I experience those same speeds for 3-7 days after reboot

to test to see if my tweaks were working i removed all of them rebooted and my speeds were back down to 400kbs. added them back rebooted getting 1300kbs and up

how did u do it
My question is about 4gv vocoder. A quick google search told me what it was and what it does. But how do you go about enabling it?

if you guys want i could make a tut but what would u want me to explain changing prl, enabling 4gv or the build.prop lines i added

best i think i have seen my phone do is....down 2482kbps ...up 829 kbps

that was when i was away on work on the coast (east) md ...evening time like 9 pm

when i got home a few days later tried again...down 186kbps...up 77kbps

the second time was same time of evening 9 pm but only between 1 and 2 bars of service

why such a drastic change? i mean i think the drop off in service has alot to do with it but ..thats huge

I have no access to the hidden menu because I am running Hroarks Cm7 however I was able to get 2.18 Megs down using the 3g Turbocharger set to expiremental... Prl 60683 (with full service of course) ((and knowing boost full service is hard to come by in residential districts))

go to settings > about phone > status .... If you dont know which prl you are on you are probably on the boost default one... changing to a sprint one (any sprint one) increased my service.. especially at home...

Having issues updating from a Boost PRL to a Sprint PRL, CDMA workshop won't read my phone at all, tried everything like suggested, device manager has two Samsung usb and modem devices listed, only one had a COM port assigned (8). Would connect but nothing otherwise.. Any suggestions? Or is there another way to manually change the PRL? Like some phones can actually just do it from a hidden menu

Mini PRL flash tutorial: (For those on Gingerbread, For those on Froyo, skip to step 3)
1) Make a backup of your phone with this: http://androidforums.com/galaxy-prevail-all-things-root/429867-odin-image-file-creator.html

2) Odin your phone to EE14(Froyo). Which one doesn't matter, rooted/stock, all the same for this

3) Turn on USB Debugging in the Settings > Applications > Development menu

4) Change your "DM" mode to USB.
__a) Get your MSL: "adb shell getprop ril.MSL" (if you don't know how to use ADB, ask for help before following this)
__b) Enter the DM menu. (try placing a phonecall to "##8778#" no quotes)
__c) Enter your MSL
__d) Select USB

5) Open CDMA Workshop and select the serial port for your phone (In device manager, under Com ports, or Serial Ports, or something containing one of those words in the name, you might have to check the advanced tab for the device itself)

6) Click Connect

7) Under the security tab, Select Samsung (Sprint) for password (Samsung (Universal) on older versions of CDMA Workshop)

8) Click Send

9) On the Other Tab, click Send in the PRL box

10) Browse to the PRL file you downloaded elsewhere (I use 11115.prl, Google it :) ) and select it

11) Set your DM mode back to UART (See step 4)

12) Reboot your Phone.

* Froyo Users, you are Done, congrats!

13) Use ODIN to flash the backup you made in Step 1 back into your phone.

14) ???

15) Profit!

ron580: can you detail what values you tweaked in your build.prop?

komajutsu step 1-2 is not necessary if your on gingerbread. to get gingerbread on DM mode for cdma workshop to read it you will have to dial ##port# or ##7678# and select DM your phone will reboot in DM mode and cdma workshop should be able to read the phone now. and do you mind if i copy your tut ill give you all credit ill just add my info in step two. and ill upload my build.prop so you can check it out.
