I experimented with 2 different things. The Original file size for the wallpaper on the Camera app is 192x192. I edited a photo to be that size (the black and white one) and did the steps below. I then redid another one with a 854x480 pixel size photo and it also worked. So Anything up to 854x480 will work! Finally no more ugly grey looking wallpaper when taking pictures!

You must be rooted with busybox Install intructions here
If using Smoked Glass Rom, use this one ONLY SmokedGlass-Camera.zip
If you are rooted, but no roms, use this one Non-OdexedCamera.zip
Also as another thing, I copied and pasted the new bg_camera_pattern.png I wanted, through Windows Explorer, not directly through Winzip/winrar.

Download the Camera.zip (the correct one for yours)
Open the zip
Click on res
Click on drawable-hdpi
Replace the file bg_camera_pattern.png with the picture of your choosing
Close the Zip
Rename Camera.zip to Camera.apk
Copy Camera.apk to the root of your SDCARD
Dismount from your computer
Open up Terminal Emulator
enter exactly this below

Code:
su
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/mtd/mtdblock4 /system
busybox cp /sdcard/Camera.apk /system/app/Camera.apk
chmod 755 /system/app/Camera.apk
sync
reboot

The bigger picture is that now that you have this done for this app, it means that we can (possibly) do this with other stock apps as well, as long as the correct parameters can be found. In effect, you've opened up a whole new level of customization....

And, for those interested, I am again gonna plug my DROID WPs that I have resized to fit the dimensions specified for the DROID - so, have at them!

Look for (DROID sized) as a part of the gallery name. Be advised, more than a few images are NSFW.

Actually that is something I thought about. I've gone through many of the apps and they don't seem as easy as this, but there are many to go through. I'm gonna try again later.

Another nice thing that could come out of this, is people to rely on themselves to edit things on their phone. I mean like people ask for certain roms or themes and wait around until it's there, but if you're experienced somewhat with something like Photoshop and know how to zip and unzip a zip (lol) then you can edit your own nandroid backup to whatever colors and or patterns you want! The possibilities can become endless almost. I've gone through a few already and you can edit the buttons and even numbers on the phone app, you can edit the color of the Car Dock easily with Color Balance, so the possibilities are there. Oh I also found the pictures for unknown caller and such, and you can easy change those out too. :p

So you have found metamorph pretty easy to use? I havent had the time to look into it. But from what little i read it sounded like all you had to do was get the de-odexed version of an apk and then change the graphics and load it up in metamorph and let metamorph replace them. Is that roughly correct?

You know I didn't think about that. I used MetaMorph before but never though about using in this kind of situation. When I have more time I will definitely play with that. I looked at the folders from the MetaMorph "skins" and they should be pretty easy to set. I personally want everything highlighted Red.

So you just looked at other skins and replaced certain files in there?

Makes sense I think heh I should really go give it a try one of these days. The customization possibilities seem endless

I haven't tried it yet, but it should be the same thing. Just replace same name with like size. You can even change the shapes if you wanted to. Takes me back to the old days with the Motorola T720c. We used to hack into the system and upload our own pictures and ringtones. Normally just by replacing the name.
