I've read all the post but i was wondering where to download the spl for using Haykuro, JF, The Dude, Cyanogen, Rogers, Ion, Hero, etc...(Have no idea where to download these roms post links please)

Also do i have to use Paragon Partition Manager 9.0 app or can i use Acronis Disk Director?

I was almost ready to try Hero until i read the part need a spl to run hero lost me on that part:)<) I have everything except the latest spl

Info Below already been posted by SHIZNT, Noonehereyet, and others etc

Also warning make sure your phone is Pvt and not Dvt because Dvt are know to brick (power off your phone and hold camera and home when it boots up if it say' s pvt in the fastboot your good but if it say's dvt do not attemp any of the follwing!!!!

(This is assuming you have ROOT, JFv1.5ADP1, latest SPL & Radio installed or similar)

*Download Paragon Partition Manager 9.0
*Create a 500mb partition on your SD Card formatted as a Linux ext2.
*Copy update.zip & app_s.zip to the root of the SD Card (normal Fat32 Partition).
*Boot your phone as normal and execute the terminal emulator.
*Enter the following commands;
su
cp sdcard/app_s.zip /system/sd/
cd /system/sd
unzip app_s.zip
(this will copy the app_s.zip folder to the Linux ext2 parition on your sdcard and will unzip it to this destination).
*Now reboot your phone into the SPL by holding the power and home button.
*Once loaded press Alt+w & Alt+s
*Once install is complete reboot the phone when prompted and you now have Rossie!

No matter what build you d/l or if you get it from my page or XDA you need to re-name it as update.zip first before flashing and installing... and of course you need to root your phone first.... to learn about how to root go here http://androidforums.com/developer-101/3252-rooting-quick-guide-updated-3-10-09-a.html or here http://androidforums.com/updates-cupcakes/5006-g1-t-mobile-total-newbie-help.html#post32119 you can get all the files you need for the process including the most recent builds from here Cupcake Downloads or here Dream android development - xda-developers

Yeah I know you rename it sorry I didn't clarify that, but when trying to port the hero rom to my g1 is the "hero_signed" the build file? Probably a dumb question but thanks for the help!

yes Hero_signed is the file you need to rename however i recommend that you use this one http://www.getyourdroidon.com/root/Hero.zip as you do not have to d/l and install the apps separately prior to the install....

so do i do all of these steps just using that one file you recommended and.. when i went to make a new partition it said that it

"cannot create a new partition on this hard drive. Most probably all primary slots are occupied and there is no extended partition"

any suggestions:thinking::thinking:

Honestly it seems your a bit new at this... and I would not recommend experimenting with incomplete or test builds until you are comfortable with the entire rooting process... I think at this point you'd be better to learn the root process and install a fully functional build like Devolio's or JesusFreke's 1.51 or something of that sort.... I don't want to see people brick their phones just because they want to try a new build... stick with what works until the process is second nature than flash/test the experimental ones.... and if what I said doesn't conivince you to try test a 100% functional builds and you still want to try hero... go here: xda-developers - View Single Post - ONLY - Haykuro Hero Rom *Tutorial link Post2* for the guide step by step after you are fully rooted and on RC33 or cupcake...

Honestly I flash my phone and test builds several times a week at least... and the process for hero is more involved than most builds it is also incomplete... the personalisation features are still not fully functional it is VERY slow still and has no working bluetooth at all.... it does look real nice though.... if i were to choose between only the 3 newest builds I would choose ion as it seems to be the most stable and WAY faster than the others... if your looking for stable and features i'd go with rogers but in all honesty i prefer function to looks so that is why i reverted back to a solid more tested build... IMO it's worth a try but not ready for everyday use yet.....

Ion installs just like any other build for rooted users rename to update.zip and flash it... and you can get it from here: http://www.getyourdroidon.com/root/ionr2-signed.zip and as i stated previously i host a web page for all members of this forum to use for all the different builds, un rooting files, etc... here: Cupcake Downloads and if you or anyone else feels the page is lacking, missing or needs something feel free to let me know as it's there to help...

i had downloaded the link above that one which is probably why i thought it was buggy. I now need to figure out how to save the apps i have downloaded between changing builds. thank you sir much obliged.

if you just want to save the apps and setting mybackup pro is the way to go : Cyrket - MyBackup Pro if you want to save EVERYTHING for a quick restore to exactly what you have now than a nandroid backup (alt+b) from recovery is the way to go......

alt+b saves to the fat32 portion of your phone under /nandroid, what you want to do is copy those files to your pc and you can restore with fastboot using the images it creates...

i found them forgive me I am not familiar with fastboot.
edit:
so mybackuppro will just save the apps etc. not the same build whereas alt+b will save the build as well??

correct... alt+b essentially clones your phone where as mybackup pro saves all info and apps so you will have everything but will have to reinstall/restore using it....
