.:Official Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Thread:.

I believe that once you hire a companion, their stats become fixed, and so Lydia won't level up like you and your enemies are.

So your options are to either find a new one, who will be a suitable level for you, or.....

(I don't know if that screws up steam achievements or not - do it at your own risk).

If between Xbox360 and PS3...

Xbox.

If you seriously consider the achievements something to...achieve. Then you're going to kick yourself for not getting the Xbox version. Plus, with 5 minutes of unplugging and replugging, you can have the Xbox on the better display. The game costs $60. 5 minutes of your time isn't worth $60?!?

Personally, my Xbox has become a paperweight. Figuratively and literally. It holds the mail that I need to send out over the edge of my desk so I notice it in the morning. I just don't game too much on it anymore because, well, I like to mod my games. Something I get purely for multiplayer, I'll get it for the Xbox. But a game like Skyrim? No...definitely going to put that on my PC and enjoy modding it.

It won't mess up the Steam achievements...but meh...companions.

I sneak around and shoot arrows into thingies heads. Their friends start looking for me, but only find arrows in their heads, too. :)

For anyone with the ps3 version...

Are you getting the 'game breaking freezes' that is all the rage online? I've read about it all over, but it seems like this has been an issue with even the fallout games on ps3..? I'm curious because I'll be getting a ps3 soon, and would like to migrate my collection of games over to the ps3 eventually. So, how would you ps3 users rate it? Are the bugs as bad as they say - or are (*shock* *gasp*) the internets exaggerating?

Thanks.

I have gotten almost every bug with skyrim and the PS3, although I hold it more against my PS3 HDD being on it's last leg already, and skyrim is just making the inevitable closer. I am getting an SSD for it that will hopefully help, then I'll give it a better opinion. Currently I recomend getting skyrim for 360 or PC, the bugs, if you do get them, absolutely ruin the game. (30 minute loading screens sometimes, ~5FPS frame rate, backwards dragons :p)

is it just me or is it (long overdue) time for the next gen of consoles? Xbox 720 and PS4 and WiiWii ....err
I was thinking the same thing.... What is the next wii? WiiU.. like wii university? Wha...?! Personally, I am thinking maybe a new system name is needed. How about the Xbox Hades (I always use greek mythogoloy in the Game Dev Story game lol).

Thanks. Hmm.. I'll be waiting on a (potential) bug fix. I hear a lot about the supreme lag and backwards dragons, but I was seeing such extremes ( a> no issues b> all issues ) that I thought I try and get an opinion around here.

Did you ever try Fallout:NV perhaps? If so... any issues? One of the guys I was reading about with skyrim was saying a lot of the issues are similar to issues they had on F:NV....

(Also, I think the amazon skryim rating was at least 1 star lower than any other platform! (last I checked) Which I thought was a pretty big jump...)

Hope they get this fixed!
If you get a new SSD, you'll tell us how that goes?;):p

Gonna be a while, the default config on new PC and desktop systems is still dual core CPUs, white the xbox has a tri-core. The gpu might not be relevant any more, although I just upgraded from a radeon 4890 a couple of months ago. It still handled everything I threw at it.

I would like to see a tablet type of console, 1" - 2" thick with an AC port, HDMI out, 120GB ssd, an sd card slot, and wifi. Your console interface runs on screen or via the HDMI out, but also allows for interaction with the system panel on the tablet while gaming on the TV. The controllers could run on wifi and the system would cost $250 - $350

I don't really think that's a fair way to compare them. Yes, the 360 has a tri-core (which actually even acts as a 6 core), but it's also six year old architecture. A dual core PC bought today is more capable of playing games to a greater technical standard, even without the benefit of intense optimisation that the game's console equivalent will get.

The way I see it, consoles aren't waiting for PCs to catch up; the constant flow of console ports and multiplatform releases means there's no burning need for PCs to advance.

GFT, I'll take my six core PC over the xbox in terms of processing power

I have about 30 hours on PS3, I've had 3 lockups so far, one at a load screen, the other two while talking. I've seen backwards flying dragons that you can't engage. The lockups have taught me to save more.

On fallout NV I had one lockup in my three play through.
Cool cool, I'll be picking up the fallout NV ultimate edition when that comes out (missed out on the dlc anyway ;) ) thanks for the post.
So you wouldn't call the skyrim bugs 'game breaking' then? I've been spending too much time reading amazon lately :p

Isn't that the new wii??

At risk of sounding like a complete Internet noob, I had to look up GFT lol /lame.
(good for them? - urban dictionary wasn't as helpful as usual....)

Not lame, lol. Can't tell you how many things I still need to look up/ask...

Quoted for truth... If I put a g instead of a q then I messed it up, lol

The only thing that I've run in to so far that I would call game breaking. is one dragon that is a bounty quest that glitches out and can't be killed. It's supposed to be fixed in the next patch. I'm still really early in the game, only a level 25.

Thanks for that reply. I've been trying to scour the internet boards (and man, some are very *unfriendly*) and it seems that possibly the latest patch *may* have fixed the lag ... but maybe not? I don't know.

Maybe I'll keep playing the xbox one, then next year when the goty with the dlc comes out I'll snag that for ps3... :D
