i rooted my phone and put fresh 1.1 on it a couple days ago, it received calls after rooting, but recently it stopped receiving calls, and it never received texts or visual voice mails. Gmail still pushes new email to it, and the internet works fine to update things and look at websites.

I tried to restore with nandroid and it took fresh off of it but it still doesn't do text, don't know about calls but i doubt it. also when i rooted it i removed sprint tv, nascar, foot prints and a couple other stock apps. after i found it wasn't getting texts i removed advanced task killer, but it didn't have any effect.

any ideas? thank you in advance.

yup, that'd be it, but I believe doing that one will only work if your phone shipped before the firmware update. Otherwise, there's the one that includes the update here (1.56...): XDADeveloperWiki - CDMA Hero ROMs

You'd then have to re-root to put Fresh back on.

If I'm not mistaken, if you do the 1.56 RUU, you won't be able to go back to the 1.29 RUU. However, I don't believe that's an issue. The two different versions of RUU is one of the only things left that still confuses me lol.

umm..not sure if this is the same problem as i had, but around the holidays my phone wouldn't receive any of those notifications either but i wasn't rooted. i would have to place a call in order to get any sms sent to my phone. if not, then nothin would be pushed to it. i still could get on the net and get emails, but vm, sms, and calls were disabled. factory reset didn't help either. i just returned it for another hero. i hope u don't have to go thru all this hassle :(

customer service?? haha i feel like i kno more about this phone than they do. when i took it to the store the chick just said do a factory reset. obviously she wasn't aware of this bug within the phone, but the manager just suggested getting a replacement. the original i had was "without google". the new one is "with google". so far so good. just having trouble rooting this damn thing now lol..

The cause for me (i think and i'm sure others could vouch for this theory) was that i downloaded too many apps at one time before deleting the ones i didn't need. that put me well under 40mb. i think when this phone gets to that level, it starts to malfunction. do u have a lot of mb in ur internal memory? if so, then i'm not sure wha caused the problem, but if not, then that's the cause for sure.

would that make a difference after doing the RUU thing?

The 70 app limit exists on everything, unless doing apps2SD, which you're not.

Just check, if you've got more than 70 downloaded, uninstall a few, just to be safe and see if it helps.

Although, after RUU'ing, you probably don't have ANY apps installed anymore lol...so it SHOULD have fixed it if that were the problem.

If it didn't fix it, then you can try calling CS, but do not mention anything about rooting or doing the RUU. If they ask you to do a factory reset, try it (or even try it now).

if you wanna go through the torture with your current phone, i have a method for u but i didn't sit too well with it after about 3 days.

try sending about 3 text messages to your phone. once that's done, call your voicemail or someone and let it sit for about 2-3 minutes. that should send ur texts to your phone.

if not then u have a whole new problem. if so, then u could keep ur rooted phone, but you'd have to do this process everytime to receive something :(
