Rant Thread - What really grinds your gears?

My wife trying to get in touch with so we can get back together after trying to get me arrested 2 weeks ago for BS that didn't happen 6 months before that...yeah that grinds my gears.

Companies using "Santa Clause" to endorse their products. What if some kid sees that Santa is endorsing both BMW AND Chevy? Seems like a conflict of interest to me. The kid will think Santa is some sort of attention whore that will slap his name on anything for a profit....

Having said that, if we're going to go crazy with Santa endorsements, a couple of products I'd like to see Santa endorse.... Condoms.......Feminine Hygiene products....Jock itch spray......alcohol (lets face it Santa needs to unwind and he already has a beer belly).....Male enhancement pills (There's a "ho ho ho" joke in there somewhere).....and finally what if he endorsed Prozac (Did that lump of coal I gave you make you all depressed? Then ask your doctor about Prozac!)

I saw a pop-up-out-of-the-toilet-bowl santa before daughter was born. That put paid to the santa crap. Plus I was tired of I WANT.

I did have to tell kid to keep her mouth shut and not tell people what we privately called the santa idiots.

Yeah I think a few of those posts from the other day went the way of /dev/null...

Gonna say it again: "unfair finals grind my gears". Two finals in one class? Two unfair finals in the same class. Well, done for now.

I'm not sure if it is a full blown "grinds my gears", but uncomfortable situations bug me... I fear there is one coming up in the near future....

Hi folks. I need to vent, and this seems the place to do it. Also, some feedback/advice would be wonderful. So let me tell you the condensed version of what has been going on in my life. This might take a few paragraphs.

About 3 years ago I was working in my normal profession (I.T/I.S/Sys Admin/Help Desk/ Computer Guy) and was making pretty good money. Long and short was I went from a salaried full time to salaried part time due to an injury and as soon as I was cleared for full time work, that VERY week I was let go. Not only me but the person who worked under me. So I was unemployed for 2 years.

Fast forward to about 9 months ago. I was offered a gig at a start up. It was weekends only, with occasional weekday work when my supervisor was away. Let's just say my "standard" paycheck was supposed to be 32 hours. After 9 months my "average" during my time there is 45 hours. I work a lot of OT. Well I was just told that I am getting my hours cut, SEVERELY. Like I get 6 hours a week now. OUCH, right?

I asked what happened and both my direct supervisor and the OWNER of the company wrote to me, in separate e-mails that there is NO WORK for me to do. So where I live, in California, the state is pretty understanding that if you are laid off, or "partially employed" (aka what just happened to me, hours cut drastically) through no fault of [my] own, I can collect partial unemployment. Basically if I am working 12 hours each pay period and report that, the basically will pay me 32 hours worth of pay to make up the difference.

My thought is, should I go ahead and file once my drastic cut in hours kicks in? (It kicks in second week of January) I am frantically job hunting since receiving this news, but I would greatly appreciate any feed back. And thanks for reading.

I would go ahead and apply and put in the paperwork at unemployment office. You don't know how long it may take to start receiving benefits.

I don't know the conversion to F but that sounds damn cold. I don't like winter

-40C is exactly -40F. Makes a change when I was in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province last year, where it was 48C, 118F during the day and 40C, 104F at night.

Wearing red won't help Santa. There are areas in this country where farmers have put orange rugs/blankets/whatever on cows and even painted COW on the animal's side.
The cows get nailed anyway. Jerks just shoot at anything that moves. Including other hunters.
