If I buy a Rogers Magic to use on AT&T (now that it has US 3G), how hard would it be to reinstall the OS so that it is unbranded? Would that also unlock it or would I have to pay to sim unlock it? Do I need to register for the google developer site in order to have access to the root OS? I am just confused on what I need to do to get it fully working on AT&T. Thanks

You would have to pay around $25.00 or so to sim unlock.

I haven't seen an unbranded rogers os rom out yet, but give it a week or so and it'll probly be there. You could, I assume, flash it to jf1.5adp in the meantime. There's also the Ion rom available now, too.

Strange, I was flashing my phone all day to different roms and the rogers rom was the only one I didn't try.

I don't think you'd have to register for the google developers site to get the rom, it'll leak out eventually.

Let us know what you decide on and how it comes out.

Well bidding on the Magic is starting at ~$700 US on Ebay right now. There is a Rogers Dream with a Buy-It now price of $1017!!! It looks like there are only a few though so give it another week and I bet the price will drop. Especially considering the price without contract is only $550 CA.

Have one on the way from a guy who bought it with contract but his hands are too big for it. Got it cheap.
