This is the Measy X7. First of all some pics, later I'll try to test some things and share information.

Step by step i'll try some things. The problem, I still don't have the SATA HDD for test. Anyway can play from an external 2.5 USB HDD and also from a USB memory stick.

Any new findings?

i have realize some times the nfts hard dirve does not reads all files you need to reboot the device 2 3 times to see al files.

to root the device you can use Z4root it does work.


to remove most of ads you can use adfree (must be rooted)

UPDATE: to fix files that are not read you need to run chkdsk form you windows XP (windows vista asn windows 7 does not fix this issue)

Hi this is my first post here in android forums.

I too own this product which I bought a week ago.

Very good for its price. Though the company claims 1Ghz, its firmware is able to generate 600Mhz (this can be tweaked to 800mhz) with setcpu, ofcourse you need to be rooted as mentioned by tatubias above.

The RAM is 189MB thought the claim is 512MB.

Another drawback is that, though it has a coaxial audio out for 5.1 RAW output, there is no hardware support. Coaxial only outputs PCM downmix even for DTS & Dolby Digital videos. I have not been able to check this with HDMI as my AV receiver does not support HDMI.

Firmware does not support storage control which means you still cannot install apps on SD card. The apps are getting installed on its internal memory of 2GB.

Have not got much time to fiddle around too much. The audio and video qualities are excellent, no lags even with huge files. Decodes almost anything, lots of video player apps are available for download though I find the default app is good enough.
Market is not installed by default.
You can upgrade the firmware (I will provide the later) to find google market on your app folder. Register your google account and you will be taken to google market. However only a very few apps and shown as supporting this model.
But no worry, you can still download them from other than google market sites and install.

Yes i have realize this and i did testit. did not have confirmation from measy if it any issue to overclock to 800mhz. i did tested some days and did not have any issue.

Market is not installed by default.

here it is a firmware that has the market. check pinoydvd forum there i explain how to install the market.

You can upgrade the firmware (I will provide the later) to find google market on your app folder. Register your google account and you will be taken to google market. However only a very few apps and shown as supporting this model.

Dear Tatubias,

There is no formatting option in the default firmware.
So unless we can install clockworkmod it is not possible to partition the SD card.
However one way out is to partition the SD card in your PC and put it back in the player, then it should work.
I prefer Link2SD to a2sd.
I will try it and get back on this.

I have been to the pinoyDVD site where you have given lots of useful info. However I am not able to register as it asks for some 3 questions in a differenet language which I am not able to answer. Any way out to register on pinoyDVD.

File sharing over windows network.

I finaly did install the Samba server. it is realy easy to implement the only issue by the moment is that the file sharing is only thought wifi and not network. i will be sending an email to the developer so they can update the software so file sharing is done thought ethernet.

NOTE: The media player should be ROOTED. (check older post to know how to do it)

I have installed Z4root this application does root your Measy x7 Mediaplayer. this is a very good news. due we can install much more applications.

When you click to root your device it provides you 2 options:
a) temporary root
b) permanent root.

i have done the permanent root. it takes about 5 minutes to do it. so be very very patient. Then the application says that is going to be rebooted.

Something that is annoying in android is that all free apps has Ads this a pain in the a....s.

So with the x7 Rooted with Z4root as i explain before. i have installed adfree app.



AdFree removes most ads in the browser and other apps. It does this by nullifying requests to known host names in the system hosts file.

So it will be more pleasant experience not viewing all the adds while your are playing or using a free app.

Finally i was able to install android market i did study a little but finally its up and running.
it is very simple.

Download the apps from: Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!

unzip the file into the SD card and install them into the following order. dont open the apps when you finished installing them.

install:
1 - OneTimeInitializer-signed.apk
2 - SetupWizard-signed.apk
3 - GoogleServicesFramework-signed.apk
4 - vending-3.1.3-signed.apk
5 - Reboot the device

Go to the settings menu. --> accounts & sync settings
Select background data and auto-sync

Thats all. it does work using ethernet connection and WIFI

note1: not all apps are shown in the market.
note2: if some one wants to do some testing dont install the following
1 - OneTimeInitializer-signed.apk
2 - SetupWizard-signed.apk
then let me know if it runs the market

remember to reboot the device


UPDATE: i did install the following packages only and did worked perfect.

1 - GoogleServicesFramework-signed.apk
2 - vending-3.1.3-signed.apk
3 - Reboot.

I have bought the Measy X7 HD media player recently.
Today I tried to upgrade the firmware V1026

I placed the update.zip file in the SD card and started the device.
Then I clicked on firmware upgrade link.
The device got rebooted and stucked at recovey mode.
The error message is
Android system recovery <3e>
E: can't mount /dev/block/cardblksd1
(invalid argument)
E: Can't mount SDCARD:update.zip
and it keeps saying Can't mount /sdcard

Please help me to get my phone working.

keep calm, that did happened to me too. that only means that the SD is not being able to be read.

what i did was format a usb drive or pendrive. then copy the update.zip into the root directory and did flash again the device.

you can format the SD and copy the update.zip into the root directory too an test,

note: if you still have some issued with the pendrive, format it in fat16 and test it again. if not format it in fat32 and test it again.

the issue is only that the sd / usb is not being mount so the device does not read the update.zip file. thats all.

allso happened with one of my pendrives that takes somes seconds to be detected. like 4 o 6 seconds.

Please let me know the output.

As Tatubias says, do not panic. The flash ROM of Measy does not recognize SD card when it is loading firmware.
Format a pendrive in fat32 on yr PC & copy the update.zip to it.
Insert it in any USB slot of Measy X7, reboot and watch the fun.

Don't forget to thank Tatubias, he has done a great job on this product.

the same happend to me. my pendrive can be only formated to exFAT and NTFS and non of those works for the solution of tatubias.

By manual you need to format the pendrive in fat32. and works.
i did format in fat 16 to test and worked too.
you can do the update using the pen drive.

remember that when you want to install an app into the device will ask you for the SD to be installed on the device.

It has pass a lot of time since i had updated the post. this is an other killer app. you can watch some channels also you can share what are you seeing through DNLA.

NOTE: by the moment it ony works with wifi and you must also have installed the SD card.

here i have taken a picture of imediashare working with a 65USD 7" tablet.

in the tablet was installed Shark mote to view all the media that was provided on the imediashare allso you can see photos, music and videos from it.

if you pay attention on the tablet you can see a Channel being played.

if you have other tv in you home with DLNA you can play there the content of the X7,with out using cable.

Every time you spent investigating what can be done with the device you discover TONS of things that can be done.

That de pends on the media player you are using. i dont rememeber if the default media player does play the srt on the mkv but i thint that yes.

let me turn on the device and i will let you know.

also you can install any other media player like:

moboplayer
meridean player
mx mediaplayer.
etc.

remember that in the defautl player it does not plays you the subtitles you need to enable.

got to the ... icon then click into the T icon and there eneable them.

About the play back:

i have tested:
Video 1920*816 / 8,020 kbps did not have any issue no frame skipping.
Video 1920*1080 / 9,640 kbps did not have any issue no frame skipping.

and i did some other test of full hd at 8000kbs and did play it very smooth.

Test were done with the default video player.

About the player there are a lot and you will need to download and test which is best for you here im posting some of the bests. the default media player is good but you cant tweek it very much.
