Help Keep losing my data connection.

Moment keeps losing evdo. Then the browser will timeout on all web pages. Email will not send or receive. Sometimes when this happens, I cannot text, or make a call. When it happens you can only see the up arrow on the left. Sprint store swapped it out for another Moment, and it did it in their parking lot. A few times after this happens I have to do a hard reset to get my email working again. Typing is slowing down on here as well.

I'm having the same issues with my Moment, and I too am in an EVDO area.

My phone inexplicably enters Airplane Mode on it's own at least once a day, cutting off everything and then it won't come out of it until I restart the phone itself.

I notice that it happens more when I have PDANet going, but it also happens on it's own with little to no applications going.

*shrug* I'm hoping the 2.0/2.1 update that we're supposed to get will fix it.

Post-CL14 'upgrade' from the Sprint store, my phone has started doing this as well. I tend to ignore this now though. Even though it's saying I'm on 1x, I know I'm not, or my signal is usually really low. Also, I judge when I'm on EVDO by how fast I load web pages or how many chugs, if any, I get when streaming music. If I get charged for data roaming or whatever, I can show them proof of the fact that I 'don't know' when I'm not on EVDO, thus negating my issue completely. I'm not that concerned with it.

On the radio lockouts: currently the only thing I've noticed that causes this is heavy data use. I have no idea why, but when it does happen, just pop the back off, slip the battery out then back in, and re-boot. It's a hassle, it's annoying, it shouldn't happen, but we have to deal with it. >.> Sorry, but that's the only fix I've found that works, as well that being the only fix I've seen mentioned.

Mine always seems to do it during heavy web browsing. Battery removal is the only way to get it back, as you said. I web surf more on my phone, than my computer. Web browser is my most important need when purchasing a phone. Stock android is the best I have tried. But airplane mode is a deal breaker for me.

This is happening to me quite frequently, typically when I'm downloading apps from the market. Very bothersome with only the left arrow lighted. Good thing is downloading pauses and after I reboot, the app will resume downloading.

I love the moment especially after the CL14 upgrade, but little things...may be not so little anyomre, are annoying the heck out of me. Yesterday all day I couldn't get the USB notification icon to work, and today it's all hunky dory.

I am eagerly awaiting the release of 2.1 to fix all these issues.

what I found out from a previous post is that you can just go to "about phone", "sytem updates" and "update prl". That should disconnect you from the network and bring you back in EVDO status.

a lot easier than disconnecting your battery.

Have the same problem repeatedly, this occurred while charging, downloading program updates (wifi was turned off, btw). Here's where the error occurred in the log:

Here's what the same thread was doing prior to the phone's modem shutdown.

Leaving WiFi off has been the fix for me. I've found that enabling WiFi on the old firmware or CL14 firmware will cause this Air Plane mode to enter randomly when I leave preferred networks. But HoverMike's find contradicts what I just said. To that, all I can say is that I've not entered Air Plane mode with wifi disabled. Maybe it's an application related problem also?

when my phone does this i noticed you can't access these services when the internet data connection locks. you cannot make calls either and will lock the phone on the calling screen but never completes the call. also you cannot close it. you can get to the home screen tho. also at this point i cannot turn off the phone. i would need to reset the battery to reset the phone. i try not to let it get to this point and will reset the phone as soon as i notice the data connection is out with the up arrow on the evdo icon lit.

Sup guys, I recently got the samsung moment and aside from the common problems we're all having id have to say I'm very pleased with the phone itself.

Anyways, I'm at work right now and I just started to have this exact problem so I decided to see if there was anything about it on these forums. What exactly are the different stages of the internet display at the top? Sorry if I'm the only one that doesn't know (for example when both arrows, up and down, are lit up with EV does that mean you have an optimal connection? What about EV D? Or 1x?). If someone could just clarify with me id appreciate it and hopefully id understand what's happening with my connection.

Well, I've been having this same problem and only shutting my phone off and back on seems to fix it. (Problem being no internet connection, no texts in or out, etc.) Ill be checking up on this topic to see if any solutions or more info comes up. Thanks to any answers in advance.

I can't speak definitively on what seems to have fixed the issue for me, but my phone has been on for 3 days in a row now with no data issues.

The only changes I have made have been to remove OpenHome and go back to the default home screen and I am not using beautiful widgets or a battery widget anymore either. I don't know if one of those two programs caused the problem or if I just happen to be in a 3 day good streak....

How many of you have the Google Voice toggle installed? I uninstalled mine and haven't had one data drop since! Google apparently says it is for 1.6 and higher (according to the email I got back from them) and to not use it on 1.5 or lower...

Unfortunately I don't so it can't be my problem. Then again everything seems to be fine right now with the battery and ATK apps uninstalled. Bad part is, now I feel like my whole phone is running in the background because I had such a habit of killing apps every few seconds or before I put my phone away. I guess id trade fast battery drain over having to turn my phone on and off over and over to get connection.

@MATTCH - you'll get your update with a better radio strength from what I am hearing. I'm pretty new to Droid, but have been BB and WinMo testing for a long time now, so I have some good dirt on what should be coming down the pipeline.

2.1 release for Sprint is supposed to stabilize the batter drain and allow them to turn up the power on the radio.

We shall see though!

Well speaking of 2.1, that's where I believe all our hope lies in the backs of our heads (at least that's where mine is). I hope what you're saying is true! Because I love the phone itself.

PS. I spoke too soon, my phone just lost connection again. Had to turn off and on.
