Whoa, Whoa, WHOA!

Are you serious?

This sheds new light on something that was puzzling me....

Comparing the Webtop version, I see that the newer 5.8.894 update has the same version. With Baseband and system, it has been incremented.

But the kernel version is actually a reversion to the original kernel, or at least a slightly modifiied stock kernel (as if it is a hybridized stock / leaked update kernel:

I've been asked not to, but rather to conglomerate all these posts into one big sticky (see the Motorola DROID ATR forum's stickied pot at the top).

I just haven't gotten around to it yet b/ of all the time I spend testing sh..stuff, answering posts here as well as my studies and research....

Let me make a real quick an dirty post of all the posts I want in a sticky and I'll include this in there.

It is not recommended at this time. See ... http://androidforums.com/motorola-droid-bionic/460371-893-update-now-4.html#post3665280.

The idea is that you are probably ahead of us who just installed the OTA and we will catch up to you.

John reported that there will probably be an in-store capability where you will be able to take your Bionic to a Verizon store and get it reverted to the stock path. That has not been announced and is currently not available.

(This is now captured in Message #1 of this thread.)

My current big gripe with the original OS is regarding the constant refocusing in video mode. that is the only issue I have regarding the camera, unlike others who have complained about slow camera focus.

Do you have any info on video focus issues, using the newer leaks?

With 5.7.893 video does not adjust focus while recording but you can tap screen to make an adjustment while recording. Just an observation I've seen since installing 5.7.893.

Im not sure if im asking this in the right section, but i really hope someone can help me out.
I rooted my bionic with the forever root but stupid me actually deleted a couple bloat apps. I am able to download the ota update but i am not able to install it obviously. Is there anyway around this or to force an update without reverting to stock? I really dont want to go thru the time and hassle of backups and reverting etc. Id be amazed if someone hasnt figured out a way...

Please, any/all suggestions.

Thanks,
Bob

I am not sure what qualifies a thread to get "stickied", but I sure think this one (especially the first post) contains a wealth of information organized well, and all in one place. Just my recommendation / $0.02

That is very nice of you. Your post made my day.

I FINALLY found a spell checker and am cleaning up the last month's posts. (Sorry for the occasional gibberish.)

Have a great holiday.

I couldn't agree more however, the powers that be are trying to make the stickies look more uniform, so that's why there is the sticky with 0 replies (made by me) that points to this one first and foremost.

There is an undercurrent of feeling that a sticky with tens of pages / hundreds of posts never get read, and that the purpose of a sticky is actually like a table of contents, if you will, rather than just several really good (but long) discussion posts.

But Thom's aggregation and compiling of all this info is so superbly done that it's the first thing I linked to, even before some of my own posts / threads that merit being stickified as well.

Ah, I see it now. I need to pay better attention.. Thanks for the clarification!
