So I got my replacement device and have it unlocked and rooted...Just about to set everything else I want up and I think I have a bad screen. It actually looks MUCH more vibrant straight on than my first device, but if I tilt it either up or down it almost has a blue'ish hue to it...and the one thing that I REALLY notice is this...and if someone could test it as well it would really help me out...

Put the screen on auto brightness (I know, its broken and it goes really dim, but just for the sake of this, do it)
Open up something that allows you to bring up the keyboard
Look at the bottom row of keys...the zxcvbnm row...is it darker than the first 2 rows for anyone else? For me, it is SIGNIFICANTLY darker than the top row. Not sure if this is normal or what...

confirmed on my device - blue tint and darker bottom row (but no significantly darker). Btw, its my 2nd one due to bad vertical banding on the 1st unit.

how long did everyone else go without realizing we can access the notification bar from the lock screen?

this was one of my favorite features when i used widget locker, being able to unlock directly into a text/e-mail is so convenient. glad they decided to put it in ICS!!

Actually I believe that feature was demonstrated during the unveiling in Hong Kong. It only works with the slide, not a pattern.

Read somewhere that this phone has fm radio hardware built in. Anyone know if that's true and, if so, how I go about making it happen?

I do not know if there is a FM radio build in. If there was there would have been an app pre installed to use it.

Anyone else using Dropbox? I thought on past phones my downloads went into /sdcard/Dropbox/, but it appears as if my downloads are now going to /sdcard/Android/data/com.dropbox.android/files/scratch/

What a messy way of handling, especially since Minus downloads to the default Downloads directory. Is there a way I can override the default location?

I am using this MHL to USB cable from Amazon and it is a 100% better than the one that came with the Nexus.

I think I'm going to flash Android Revolution, seems stable enough. Anybody think I should flash a different rom?

I've flashed every rom out there with the exception of Pete's Bugless Beast, and I keep coming back to Revolution. Its super stable and smooth. Plus its 4.0.2, which means I can use Netflix HD.

I'll be updating to his latest version tomorrow.

I was trying to figure that out too. I'm assuming that the reason FM is listed as a supported I/O type in some of the specs I've seen is because it has a Broadcom BCM4330 BT/WiFi/FM combination chip in it (same as the Galaxy S2). But the S2 uses a dedicated Silicon Labs FM chip like the original "S1" to provide FM radio capability. Apparently there are a lot of Android phones that have bluetooth chips that include support for both sending and receiving FM, but in order for it to work there also needs to be the proper antenna, audio, and power connections in place. I've seen no evidence of FM radio being a design feature in this phone (or for that matter is there a radio app built into ICS).

no you're not, but there is a fix!

get ES file explorer from the market. use it to navigate to the system folder, click "mount r/w" and rename the "reboot-from-recovery.p" file to "reboot-from-recovery.p.bak", then click "mount r/o". after you have done that, open ROM manager, click "flash clockworkmod recovery" again and you're done!

From what I understand, you need to make a few tweeks:

get root explorer from the market
in root explorer find: system/recovery-from-boot.p, make sure mount R/W is selected in root explorer, long press on the file and rename it to system/recovery-from-boot.p-bak (what I did anyway)

Then download rom manager (free) and reflash the recovery, first option and you should be set to make your nandroid

Probably won't work, but you can try installing this:
[Tip] The DROID Bionic Has FM Radio - Tune In Using The DROID 3 Radio APK
Worked great on my Bionic (keep in mind you need to have headphones in to use as an antenna).

Edit: Gave it a shot. Installed fine, but couldn't get it to work.
