Galaxy Nexus from Expansys

I see Expansys is selling an unlocked Galaxy Nexus:

Anyone actually received one yet? How's it work with AT&T? Any problems?

I did, haven't had a problem with it. It is working great with AT&T, fast HSPA+ speeds, great phone.

Umm so can I but fk if I'll ever spend $700+ on a cell phone.

The point is not who can and can't afford it, but my god it's just a cell phone and not even a top of the line phone. The Nexus is like a mid range phone.

So, like purchasing a "mid-range" luxury car vs. a fully loaded mainstream vehicle? Everyone has their own budgets and their own little vices & tastes. I paid full price for the AT&T GS2 (not the LTE) the week out came out. I had been lusting after the phone, but was waiting for the AT&T version. It meets all my needs and expectations, so it is money well spent.

From what I read on this and other sites, the Nexus line of phones is the high water mark for Android phones each year - the minimum of what a flagship should aspire to be. Considering that, I would hardly call a Nexus "mid-range." Opinions vary, I guess.

Well I cannot say for others, but for myself it was simple. I sold my wife's iphone 4s that she was no longer using, she didn't care for it. She got it on contract for 200 and sold for 500. Nice little profit there. So the Nexus didn't really cost me much.

The phone is unlocked, and that is out of contract price, pretty close to most phones without contract, look how much an iphone cost unlocked and full price. If any phone is a mid-range phone it is the iphone, the Nexus has some of the best specs for a phone out currently.

This phone is expensive, but I consider what I am getting for my money, and to me it is worth spending, to you I see it isn't. That is why I like having the options.

My question would be, "Why would you pay more for a phone from Expansys, when you could find it cheaper elsewhere?". Amazon has it for $670...for now.

Well looking when the thread was created, Amazon was selling it for well over 800 at that point. That was around the same time I bought mine. Expansys was one of the cheapest places at that point, and they have a 20 off coupon you could use.

I think your logic being used is a bit flawed?

Phone on contract is 299 plus 350 ETF...............that's 650 off contract. So you have a nice NEW phone all the time for let's say 50? hmmmmmmmmm

Sell the phone after 6 months for let's say 350..............do the math and you have a "current" phone all the time instead of a phone that is 18 months out of date.

How do you peeps deal with any phone for 2 freakin years? They are out of date with new phones being released at "least" every 6 months?

And oh by the way...............saying that you have 2 lines and one of them runs out every year is NOT an answer..................your still using an outdated phone for at least 18 months!

Easy....buy a quality phone that gets the upgrades and then it is not "out of date." Newest is not always best.

agree to a point but.............ahhhhhhh...........and what phone is that?

BTW..........non existent or much delayed software updates are one thing but "old" out of date hardware is another................

I went with the Atrix 2....it has enough internal memory(8 gigs) and external memory (32 gigs) to handle any and all updates/upgrades.

Fair enough however historically, expansys has been slow to lower prices, to match the market, if at all.

They dropped their prices to like 669 for it now. Now a bad price.
