Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Nice mod! I used the ICL53F_AB_APM_MID and it feels like I've fallen into a detergent commercial.

"My whites are whiter and my brights are brighter!"

Why go to any other GNex threads?

There are other threads?? ;) :p

So where is our next pic coming from Cap'n? And when can I be a stowaway to somewhere warm?

Mind if I solicit you all for some thoughts? :D

A couple days ago, christmas, I posted a photo I called dark light, this one:

Dark Light AKA: Christmas Sunset by slitherjef, on Flickr

Well, that shot, was not quite what I had in mind when I took the images (yes, images) I took 3, one at +2ev one at 0ev and one at -2ev (#ev is the exposure value. Meaning, I over exposed one image, shot one at the middle value and underexposed one image)

Well, the idea was to put the images together to make the image more closely to what I saw. When I tried to put the images together to make the HDR (high dynamic range photo) I did not like the result so I posted the one above after a little bit of tweaking. Tonight I decided to try the newest version of photomatix trial and run the images again.

After some messing around with sliders I just went through everything until I got something I liked and looked closer to what I saw when I took a photo. Here is the result:

Dark Light / Christmas sunset HDR by slitherjef, on Flickr

I guess both images would be equally valid but the bottom photo is more what my eye saw when I took the photo.

I thought I would ask my friends here what they thought. I like the image. I like both of them actually :) I just want to figure out if another piece of software added to my kit would help my photography. Sorry about the water marks, but I wanted to try the software to see if it was better then the previous version :)

I love it!! I'm not a photographer at all so my opinion is strictly as an observer.

Speaking strictly on an artistic level, the first one you posted (the darker) is much more artistic, almost brooding. You don't "need" to see the fence detail of the lighter version, and in fact the detail detracts from the scene and shifts the eye's focus. The dark version leaves much more to the imagination and thus the emotion of the shot is greater. Just IMO.

In the dark one my eye goes right to the sky, which I think is suppose to be the focal point. In the other pic my eye goes right to the shed or whatever is behind the fence. It looks nice but I don't think the shed is suppose to be the focal point.

i was about to say the exact same thing. the lighting increase almost makes it look like the sun is setting in a completely different place in the second picture as well. in the first one, it seems to be setting just to the right of the shed. in the second one it looks like it is setting directly behind the large tree. first picture definitely offers a more dramatic/artistic effect IMO. the second one is certainly more accurate to real life, but my attention is not focused solely on the sky as it is in pic 1.

This is exactly what I was thinking when I looked at the two photos.

There are a few...which one are you referring to? Romans? If so, yes it is stable and nice :)

This one:

[ROM] Android Open Kang Project - toro Milestone 1 [Dec 27] - RootzWiki

...so yeah, I think we're talking about the same one. Cool ... I'm off all week, so I don't think I'll be able to resist the temptation to flash.

I had to wait the better part of a year before there were any real custom ROMs for my Fascinate. I can't believe how many source-built ROMs we already have for this phone, which hasn't even been out for two weeks. *This* is why I went with a Nexus!

And amen to that the GN will break new records for dev support I believe!

I flashed this ROM last night, along with Franco's kernel. I'm undervolting using SetCPU to try and extend battery life. I should know later today how much better, but initial results look promising. I had to uninstall and reinstall one app that didn't work properly with a Titanium Backup restore. But this looks like a great ROM, so it should keep me happy for a few days. :)

Yes, I have seen Unidentified Flying Objects. But I'm assuming you're asking if I've seen anything that looked liked alien ships and that would be no. :)

Wait, so how do you know what an alien ship looks like????!!!!!????

I'm a bit different than the others that responded, though I LOVE them both, the 2nd pic my attention is drawn to the wheelbarrow and how the snow is so silky smooth under it. I'm a snow lover though (stuck in hell, aka Houston). That 2nd pic makes me feel kinda funny, like when climbing the rope in gym class (BB, that is a Waynes World reset, judging from your previously acknowledged lack of movie history, thought it'd be best to state that :D )

PS....yea!!!! my first ever multi-quote

I like the top/first picture better than the bottom/second picture. They are both awesome, mind you (I'd love to be able to take photography like this), but I prefer the first one because there's more of a contrast between light and dark. It's more stunning and eye-catching to me.

Good morning everyone. Been away for a bit as I spent some time with the girlfriend and her family out on the west coast. Nice to get away for a bit even if it was a short weekend. Lots of posts for me to catch up on, but some stuff looks awesome in here.

Ill probably be updating to gummyNex 0.3.0 this morning at work to see what its like -- anyone running that ROM? I'm on 0.2.6 right now and noticing some radio issues. Losing service randomly or not getting service coming out of airplane mode this weekend after my flights. Hoping the new kernel he included fixes those issues for me.

Hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday, but back to work for me so you'll see more of me again.

Good morning Nexlings!

Picture discussion: I LOVE the second one. Looks almost surreal.

ROM discussion: I've been running Roman's Kang for about a full day and its the fastest, smoothest rom I've ever been on. Coupled with Franco's kernel #6, its a dream. Simply a dream. Sucks juice faster than others, though. It could be that the kernel is to blame.

@CaptainRon: Just got in the office, I'm zipping that tweaked Nova Launcher and sending to you in a few min. Keep in mind though, that the app button is invisible, but in the same default place. If you'd like to change it, just long press on it and edit the icon. If you're partial to the stock ICS app button, you'll have to download the ADW ICS theme pack from the market (its free and compatible with Nova).
