San Francisco 2 Battery life

What are other SF2 owners finding battery life to be? For me, it's really poor. I might get through a working day without needing to charge up but today, it was down to 20% by 3pm and I haven't used it much, just emails and a little internet. Not even any phone calls.

Wifi seems to be taking a lot of battery and I'm not even using it during the day (although I haven't been turning it off, it's not something I've had to do with previous phones or my iPod). I don't really want to have to turn it off and on gain when I need to use it. That's a lot of hassle!

I have seen mixed reports about battery life for the original SF, maybe I have a bad one?

I'm getting a day and a half to two days. Wifi & full sync on.

That's way better than I get - maybe I've overdone the apps I've downloaded and have running. I'm amazed at how much seems to be running when I check in the apllicataion manager. Why does maps need to be running, for instance? I've no idea how much juice each of the processes and services is actually using .

Wifi seemed quite hungry and, as I don't have wifi access at work, I tend to turn it off. That seems to help.

Thanks for the reports - it helps.

I've had a mixed bag with the SF2 battery. For the first week I thought it was atrocious, I could barely get a day out of it, but it seems to have bedded in a little and I'm getting just about 2 days out of it now, so it's acceptable.

It's nowhere near as good as the original SF, which could get by for 3 days (or a nearly week on standby, using Swedish_Spring). I'm going to get rid of the stock ROM, as I'm convinced the Orange bloatware doesn't help (though to be fair it doesn't seem as intrusive as the SF1).

I think that 3G data connectivity seems to use a more power than WiFi, so if you have WiFi available, turn it on and you'll save more battery power like that.

I unlocked my SFII on Friday 23rd when I got it, its now debranded and running the full version of Power Manager, so I can turn on/off stuff at will and it allows me to set my own profiles. Recently I emptied both caches and after allowing my phone to get to a full 100% charge I them emptied the battery stats in the Restore screen.

At this point I had to let it get flat normally and not charge it until it was at the critical stage. I used the phone and to be honest unintentionally hammered it with installs, program usage and generally messing about with my son who is 100 miles away and comparing stuff.

Rebuilding the caches the first time cost me 10% power
Wi Fi hammers it, but then 3-4 hours on is not bad, a case of use it when you need it
I put Tango video chat on for me and my son, that hammers it the most-but expected
Standby overnight resulted in only 1% loss which is acceptable.

16 hours later and still a good 55-60% left !!! But then we hammered it some more and I got 24 hours out of it before it went critical and I plugged in the USB cable again. From this I infer 1-2 days of normal use and I feel a lot more comfortable about it now.

After all, this is a GPS enabled phone with Sat/Nav capability, video conferencing with both front and back cam, Bar Coder, Email, Wi Fi etc. Mine runs Quake 1, Quake 2, Real Racing 2 and lots lots more. The original San Fran was a 600 CPU, the newer SFII is an 800 CPU and that takes more oomph! All in all I know I got a bargain and I`m well pleased with it.

I use Power Manager (62p) to control the settings I want, a licensed Titanium (

I'm new to the forum, could you tell me where you saw that?
Mine lasts 24 hours & I only use it for phoning & texting, it loses charge overnight!
There are lots of guides around. Here's a good one: Battery Recalibration ProTip - Android @ MoDaCo

If you don't have clockwork mod installed some of the rom tools will reset the stats fully booted. All methods need root access afair.

Thing is what do you have running and are you considering the effect on your battery? If you're leaving on wireless all day when you're not using it for example... same with apps etc you have running. It goes without saying: If you want to extend battery life between charges you need to be running only what you need.
