Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

These file transfer problems people report are strange. Mine has been plug-n-play since day one. Not a single hitch on any of at least 6 different computers I've connected. Everything ranging from old laptop running XP home all the way up to my CAD station at work running Win7/64 enterprise...and pretty much everything in between...I've used old junk generic cables and flashed five or six different kernels/ROMs in that time. Never a hitch.

...and then there's the guy who PM'd me on HIS day-one asking about having trouble.

Very odd.

Nary an issue since day 1 here as well. Completely P&P Windows7

I have dl'd it. Haven't tried it yet. Can you transfer a whole folder with it? Or can you only transfer one file at a time?
TBH, I have not tried a directory/folder yet and I am not able to try it at work. I've always shift-selected a group of items and copied them to a pre-existing folder, but I'll try your scenario out when I get home.

Please forgive if ninja'd, but is there anyway the file transfer issue could be related to having the correct Samsung drivers?

I too, have had no issues and got the driver directly from Samsung.

Are there any "other" drivers available? Perhaps some accidentally got the drivers for a different Samsung phone?

Good point I'm also using the official drivers from Sammy. click "software"

Have you tried quickpic?

Used it for a long time on my Inc it is fast! I happen to like ICS stock gallery and have had no issues organizing. Did have the initial issue of picasa sync'ing google+ pics, but solved that.

Cool, I just installed it. It has a "fix date" feature that helped the organization. It's not perfect but it's a heck of a lot better than it was. I espeically like the organizational features like multiselect, folder creation, etc. Thank you!!

That's what I thought too... Windows 7 (and XP, for that matter) installed its own driver so I downloaded the drivers from Samsung's website with no effect. Before I plug it into my wife's laptop, I will install the Samsung driver first.

right, I am looking for an icon just to activate the mic part, right now the mic is part of the whole search bar and the icon is not as easy to tap as a standalone app icon. however, google voice search may not just come with a mic icon.

Ahh I see ok then. BB's suggestion of using dsktop visualizer is an alternative. Also 3rd party launchers give you this ability of creating a shortcut and telling it what you want it to open. A third, but possibly less desirable option would be to root. This gives you the option of modding the navi bar at the bottom and adding a stationary "search" icon. One ROM, Milestone by Roman, gives you the option cooked in to have it or not.

Thank you!! I guess what I am really asking is that, is the google voice search available without the option for a search bar? it's not in the app list. so even if I decide to create a shortcut how would I just direct it to the mic and not the search bar itself?

Not on stock ICS that I know of. As far as creating a shortcut with Dsktop Vslzr or Launcher Pro I haven't used either in so long I can't remember :p.

iirc with LP, you'd long press on the homescreen and create a shortcut/widget with the parameters you would choose telling it what you wanted it to open.

So I'm trying out AirDroid, very cool so far. I like being able to interface with my phone directly from the computer without cords. I feel like this is a pretty powerful program - what advanced things can be done? Would it be possible to run a command line into the phone from here? You could probably accomplish some pretty complex tasks...

I've heard good things about AirDroid. Going to check that out as well.

Hey everyone,

Been busy the past week (as I'm sure most of you were) so I haven't been able to keep up or contribute at all. But I do have a favor to ask. I'm really on the fence about switching the Nexus out for the Rezound. Here's my thinking (pros vs cons). Any additional insight/encouragement one way or the other would be helpful. And I'm only asking you guys because I trust you and know you're not all fanboys that blindly love the Nexus.

In my experience - the Cons of the Nexus listed by priority are: a little laggy, really bad pictures indoors (however outdoors the pictures are good), poor signal/wifi reception.

The Pros of the Nexus listed by priority are: the screen, NFC and ICS features...oh and if it hold true to the Nexus name, it will get updates quite often (which I always like/appreciate)

I've demoed the Rezound and it has a nice screen, good reception, a great camera and will eventually get ICS. (however it already takes panoramic pictures (easier to do than ICS BTW)

I think what is bothering me the most is the lag between switching from program to program. My DINC loaded browser pages faster AND when you'd click on a phone number in the browser to call the number would load AT LEAST 1-2 seconds faster. Almost no hesitation on the DINC. Something just feels wrong that my brand new device is slower than my old DINC. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks everyone!

Well, I guess I have no choice but to download it too!

MOM!!! All the cool kids are doing it!!!

My brother had my favorite response one time. He was doing something and when asked why he said it was because it was the fun thing to do. To which my mother gave the standard ''If everyone else jumped off a bridge, would you?"
In his infinite youth and smart ass ways he looked at her, without missing a beat and said "I wouldn't want to be left all by myself, I'd get lonely"
:D
