My t-mobile contract isn't up for another 18 months or so, so there's no way I'm tacking another 24 on there. I'm willing to pay full price for the phone, but I can't extend my contract past when I leave for college and I'll probably have to rethink my phone plan, etc.

But, I would like a g1. On Engadget, they said the CEO mentioned a $399 contract-free version.

I don't see this anywhere...

Will it be available tomorrow, do you think?

Or should I just keep an eye on eBay?

All there is on my t-mobile is the $299 2-year extension one. All other phones, minus the sidekicks I think, also have an option to buy contract-free there, but not the g1.

You wouldn't be taking another 24 months on, I'm a T-Mobile CSR and we don't stack contracts. All contracts start from the day you agree to them, so it'd be a 6 month extension on your current contract but two years from when you agree to it. BIG misconception with our customers, we'll leave the contract stacking to the competition.
