hey guys. are there any places i can go to or would anyone be willing to meet up with me to show me what i may or may not be doing wrong when trying to update to hero. need some help as i was able to root, but when it comes to changing roms, etc i am still a newbie.

mods, if this isnt allowed, my bad. anyone willing to help a phandroid out?

some other quick questions:
1. is there a way to backup phone numbers from a sim card via android or tmobile?
2. after doing all the updates via jf updater and the radio, i have a few update or update.zip files in my sd card. is it safe to delete them but use the one i specifically need?

thanks for any help guys!!!:)

the update.zip on your phone should at the least be rename ... but can safety deleted ... if you happen to need it again ... just copy it back onto the sdcard from your PC

thanks for your response justjim!

stupid question time again so maybe I wont have to meet up with anyone:

have the radio build. are these the following steps i have to do now?

download the new spl, put to root of my sd card and name it update or update.zip

recovery mode, alt w, alt l, then alt s?

reboot and I have hero? am i forgetting something else?

this is the info I can give you i have on my phone:

radio is 2.22.19.26I
kernel version 2.67.27-00392-g8312baf
build # userdebug 1.5 CRB43148830

thanks again!

For the NewSPL i am not absolutely sure you have to do wipe(Alt+w) ,

I think you may just need to place it on the sdcard as update and Alt+S

But I would wait and see if you get that confirmation here

will wait for a confirmation.

im thinking an alt w is needed since its different builds but thats why im asking all these questions, hehe.

if i do a wipe, will this wipe out numbers i put in? for some reason, when i did the cupcake update, lost some but not all numbers. maybe i gotta play around with that.

thanks again!

Well Alt+W is a complete wipe of your phone's memory ... This is the same as a Factory reset .... and you will have to reload your apps and reso your settings.. As Long as you login to your Original GMail account the Paid apps will be Under MarKet | My DownLoads as "Purschased"

This is why I would not WIPE unless it is absolutely necessary .... this is not like you are changing your BUILD just changing the "BootLoader"

hey guys, ill pay 20 bucks and a starbucks coffee if anyone is willing to meet up.

followed to a T the directions from http xda, (xda-developers - View Single Post - [ROM] Haykuro Hero *Tutorial link Post2*)
did the partition manager, etc but when i would do an alt L, my screen would be like white paint splattered. did the alt s and reboot.
next, put the spl, and hayruko (sp?) build but the same thing happens when i press alt L, dont remember that happening a month ago.
anyways, press alt W and it reboots and goes back to the signup screen.

on my sd card, i have the update, and update.zip files from when i first flashed the 2nd time to jf build 1.5 but my build says its still the 1.4.

midtown manhattan or queens would be cool. again, if this is not allowed mods, my bad.

THANKS!!!

Once you have updated ... and reboot you will normally get the Signup Screen ... you will then just sign back in to the same Gmail account you use originally .... Anytime you ALT+W (wipe) this will be required ... same as a Factory Reset ...

So what is the problem you think you have ... ???
