Can you offer any explanation as to why this is the case? I have not created a separate folder as yet and don't have an issue doing so, but what is the reason for doing so? I've read this is necessary elsewhere and just need confirmation as to what effect it is.
Cheers.
Most of the apps will allow you to select whatever sound you put on the phone, but there are few, where part of the setting is customizing the notification sounds, and these apps look exclusively into notification folders only.
WHY?
If the nature of the app is to run notifications frequently and in short intervals, they won't be interested in ringtones, which by default are far longer than notifications, and if they would allow to choose a long ring tone, it could result in sudden cut offs of one sound, in order to serve new notification, which came before the first sound was done playing, or sound over laps, causing sound amok.
Or, you would be listening to your music and the notifications become part of your music library, because it was in the same folder. Some perhaps don't mind that, but I have lots of classic stuff I like to listen during long drive, often set to random, while all my geek friends are identified by R2D2 sound as a ringtone. The last thing I would like, is to listen to R2D2 in between my Beethoven
Share a little story with you. A friend of mine is a CEO of large oil & gas company. Despite holding very serious position, he is a real idiot (funny idiot), and we always prank each other on a very juvenile level. One time I set up my answering machine app to play Hardcore Porn Orgasm sound, only for calls coming from him or his office. Whenever he calls me from the office, his secretary (which I can't stand because she is a stuck up b**ch) will call me first, and once I pick up, she will put the call through. Naturally I haven't pick up the office calls for a week, enjoyed tormenting her with the sound. The joke got old, I change the sound to my default file and totally forgot about it.
One Sunday, I'm with my kid in big electronic store, lots of people, and we are testing Philips' Android dock station. My kid shuffles through my sounds... When he reached one of the deadmau5's neo-trance piece, he pumped the volume, and of course, out of sudden the Porn Orgasm kicks in right after that. They didn't escort me out, but the look I got from the people around me, was really hostile
Since then, I HAVE NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER put any sound file where it doesn't belong. Keeping my notifications, alarms and generic music in their respective folders.... !
One day, it will safe your life, trust me
