Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Not sure if this is the correct thread but what the hell! :D

Well, after every incarnation of the iPhone so far I have finally decided to move over to Android. ICS just looks too good compared to my iOS which I thought would never be beaten. And the galaxy nexus looks like a great handset so made the plunge.

I must say, great phone, great software. Finally android is moving in the right direction with a operating system that looks good, is slowly conforming to a set standard but still leaving scope for nerdy types to mess if they feel. I liked the closed environment of the iPhone as every app was made for it, I see that android is attempting in future to be similar between both phones and tablets. (but not too much!)

Now I love my iPad and can not as yet see android even coming close to that for at least another year or so but as for the phone.....the iPhone needs to change dramatically with the iPhone 5, many people buy it simply because it's apple (yes, I did) and because the apps look great and everybody seems to make them for it (think sky go in the uk!)

Anyway, bye bye iPhone 4s......well hello android galaxy nexus!:)

Oh, one last thing, I don't like phone makers messing with android, I like the stock software. Personally I see no reason to put their own skin on it? That is the main reason, or one of them I didn't like android. And I don't root phones.

Welcome to the dark side.

We'll just file this comment away for a few months until you've had time to drink the Android juice. It may come back to haunt you in 6 months.

And I don't root phones.
Not yet anyways. (How's that juice?)

Not bad. You had it on the charger 3 times, maybe 2 hours worth?

How much was your screen on time during that 20 hrs you remember?

It was plugged into the computer during the tether work. Yep, on and off for about 2 hours. Screen on, the computer can barely keep up.

Screen is off during xm sports streaming (finebaum fix).

Screen on maybe 6 or 8 hours? That's a swag.

It's been a while since I've used Tapatalk. You like it better than the Phandroid app?

Its the first time ever for me using it and its so much easier. It even supports multi quote!! :D

Honestly I do like Tapatalk better than the Phandroid app -- the new update is much cleaner too and they made some really nice optimizations. It's always super fast.

Good morning everyone!

+1- love how quick it is.

Welcome to the forums and welcome to Android, Dave! :D

I think you'll find sufficient help for anything issue you come across right here in the forums. Hope you enjoy your Nexus as much as we enjoy ours!

So I have tried the trick of leaving wifi on all the time and for the past 3 mornings I have the same problem when I get to work - I lose ALL data until I turn off the wifi. It seems to be just at work. If I turn off the wifi I get data with no problems. I'm not overly concerned but thought I'd share this possible anomaly.

You're not connected to a wifi network when you're at work are you?

Damn, did you use the phone at all?? :D

LOL.... I don't use it much - a few calls & texts, browse the web while sitting on the couch, some email.... maybe a game of Monopoly every now and then. BUT, I have not changed my habits and am getting 2x the battery life that I got on the Rezound :)

EDIT - actually now that I think about it I was on a job taking photos with it - I probably took 40 with flash.

Nope, wifi at work is basically nonexistent unless you are right next to the router. But it seems to be the only place that no wifi connection causes all data to be lost.

Wow. I am impressed. Although you'll rarely find me without the phone in my hand or within reach.

I do have one tiny complaint about the size of the phone.

I used to be able to quickly tuck my DInc into my bra if I needed to put it down while I was out or if I walked out of my office with it. Now it doesn't fit. There's not enough room. Its silly but I find myself still trying every once in a while and get slightly miffed each time. :p:D[/spoiler]
