They have offered me a staggering

Alright mate - have you asked them if they have any other models available? I heard of someone on here not too long ago in a similar situation and they were offered the Sensation (I believe)... whilst a similar phone to the DHD, it does have some nice specs and would be an upgrade...

no in my annoyed state of mind i didnt think of asking that. will ask them when i call back in an hour.

I'm EXACTLY the same... "right... that's it... I don't care... *slam phone down*" and then think afterwards... oh, but what about this/that/the other!

When you speak to them in a bit, say that you want to have as much info as possible and then you'll get back to 'em in the morning... that way, you can check out everything online... you may choose to go with another DHD (there are some bargains to be had... someone on here got a sweet deal on ebay (just have to be careful)!

Hope you get it sorted though mate!! :)

just spoke to them again in a more relaxed voice and they explained that they also use amazon as a price guide! they, however, look at the prices of nearly new/reconditioned, not brand new. I then asked them about a different handset and they said they have nothing in stock of similar value to offer. mentioned the sensation to them and they said i can either wait for the desire hd/sensation to come back in stock (could be days/weeks/months!), or i can have the cash now.

I think the Incredible S is the same phone with a smaller screen. If you're looking to root, I think it's a bit harder to do than the DHD though. The lg optimus 2x is rooted very easily, but with minimal ROM support. Sony ericsson xperia play looks as if it has a lot of Dev support, but scanning the dev threads on XDA, root looks complicated (although if I had the phone and investigated for more than 15 seconds, I might have a different opinion).

Are/were you happy with the DHD?

thanks for the info :)

yeah i have always loved the desire hd. would be happy to have it back but got another year of my contract left so thinking whether i would prefer to have a different handset for the remainder. Bit of a gamble really. Really like the look of the LG although its got less ram. Screen size may let down the incredible s imo.. Only mentioned the xperia play as its on offer with Phones4u at the moment never really looked into it before now.

Any other handsets around the 250-300 mark you can think of that look nice?

DECISIONS!!!!!

A friend of mine has the incredible s - I've looked at them side by side and, although it is smaller, it's still quite a nice phone. I'd definately say try to get some hands on in a shop, before ruling it out! :)

Cheers guys. Going to drop the incredible s from the list but only due to screen size. A new member in the debate is the Xperia arc s. found one for 229 brand new which is a bargain! Also found the Xperia play for 150 which is ridiculous! Still like the look of the LG mind, and the DHD is always in the race. Off to the shops tomorrow to see if I can get my hand on them. Any of you tried the Xperia arc s?
