Root [ROM][WIP] BACKside ROM (CM7) + Green Machine Theme

Locking the desktop prevents you from making inadvertent changes. You've heard of pocket-dialing? Imagine your phone with a pocket-desktop created theme! Just one example of locking's usefulness.

My daughter uses the two I bought my boys as mini tabs and kept rearranging or even removing all there apps, she's 4 and autistic, she thought it was fun to see the background uncovered so needed a way to keep them locked in place. And yes I've had pocket themes :D

Battery life seems to be about the same as my last test, performance is superb, (other than a few problematic apps that have problems on several other high end phones, so its not rom related) id give battery life a 200/10 if you rarely use your phone, a 20/10 if your an average user, and an 8/10 if your a crazy phone person such as myself or brotherswing. performance is a 7.5/10 overall. it boots hella quick, highly responsive, and not many force closes (with exceptions of apps such as the very problematic facebook app). im running full BACKside stock at 787/480 (performance)interactivex (i switch between the two to compare performance and battery life) when i perform these "tests" so your results may vary depending what apps, and additional settings and tweeks you have applied. and all tests were ran with wifi and 3G on (turn one or the other off depending if im at home using wifi or on the go using 3G) and GPS off.

Oh I was thinking of a privacy sort of thing. I'm not a big fan of entering a password or having a pattern but I'd like more privacy settings haha. Oxymoron?

actually, the method they are speaking of requires no passwords or pattern. they are referring to the launcher settings that allow you to "lock" icons and widgets in place, so you do accidentally move them or delete them(when you long press on an icon or widget) from your launcher. ive had that happen to me a few times, so i started locking my icons and what not with GO Launcher.

Here you go:
LiveWallpapers.zip

-download to sdcard
-reboot into recovery
-turn off signature verification (I didn't sign the zip file ;))
-flash LiveWallpapers.zip
-reboot
-long press home screen
-select Live Wallpapers
-select Nexus
-set and enjoy

Alternative method (no need for recovery), extract LiveWallpapers.apk from the zip file, copy to /system/app with root file manager or adb, set permissions to rw-r-r, set the wallpaper. (may require a reboot before setting)

Works great, ty so much :)

Pretty sure you already know this, so this is more for others (who always use Wifi at home) who may not know; Under Wireless & Networks, go to Wifi Settings and put a tick in the top two boxes for Wifi and Network Notification. If you snag yer phone and head out the door, as soon as you are out of range from your router then 3G will auto kick itself on. If you get close to a public Wifi (Denny's, McDonald's, Starbucks etc.) there will be a new icon on your notification bar to let you know it's there should you want to hook up. When you get back home 3G will turn itself off and your phone will hook back up to your Wifi.

I never have to turn 3G or Wifi on or off. My phone does it for me. ;)

In that situation, I believe your Wifi is still searching for networks which would cause it to drain the battery faster. Your Wifi isn't really off, it just isn't connected to a network.

That is correct. If the wifi were off, it wouldn't be able to scan for networks. I only turn off my wifi when I know I'll be out of the house for more than a four or five hours.

I've tried several different themes and icon packs the last few days. It seems every time I try new icons and/or colors in the dockbar I start having intermittent problems with ADW FC's. Any common causes anyone can think of?

The upside is now I could wipe my phone and apply a new ROM in my sleep. I've done BACKside 3 times today trying to find the problem.

Have you installed any new apps when it started? Even if it has nothing to do with adw it could be tapping to much cpu in the background and when adw starts there's nothing left for it to use.

The only thing that was new was Link2SD ( works great by the way). I also went through wiping, formatting and reinstalling the ROM and Gapps. No new apps and when I would change the dockbar action buttons and in the settings menu I would get the ADW FC.

Could it possibly be the SD Card? When I made the 2nd partition for Links2SD I still had things on it like the ROM, Titanium backup etc.

I started from scratch because I had done so much I couldn't remember what. Reformatted the SD, wiped, installed. Tried the simply Elegant theme and things seemed fine. Tried the Nice Blue Clock Widget (first time I've tried it), got a ADW FC about 15 seconds later.

I had been trying some widgets before when I had the FC's so I guess its a widget problem. I just don't remember having a problem when using Jerry's Green Theme.

I got some fc when I had changed the color of the notification bar. Also Skype causes fc even when it's not running if you have that installed.

Put this build on my girlfriend's optimus and she's having an issue where it won't charge from the laptop and keeps shutting itself down. Anybody else have that, or any suggestions?

She says it acts like its charging, but phone keep rebooting intermittently. When she switched ports upon my saying so...try a different usb port she said it started chiming repeatedly.

EDIT: Just used the search and am reading about some issues, not sure if they are the exact same though.

Thanks,

Tellerve

CyanogenMod-7.2.0-RCO-BACKside-IHO-KANG
eng.jerryscript.20111221.000808
GWK74
No additional themes (not even Green Machine)

My Google Search bar across the top of my screen has vanished. I can't figure out what to install or drag from apps drawer to get it back. Sort of hoping I don't have to reflash. I've rebooted 3 or 4 times - it won't come back.

Any ideas? I have had outstanding results and performance with this build on my OV, old screen.

EDIT: thanks benslgdroid. I found it seconds before your response - long hold on screen, select widget. This forum is awesome.

TIA

Which is why I have a car charger. It goes on it when needed. ;) However, turning off Wifi defeats the purpose of having a notification that tells you Wifi is available. So it does go without saying that WiFi is searching hehe. It's merely an option for those who didn't know it was there and wish to use it. I probably could of worded my post better, too.

For those with ADW FCs due to icon packs, they are mdpi icon packs, right?

The MIUI Icon pack has both, and I still get FC's with ADW. I've been trying to retrain myself to use ADW because the LPE dev doesn't seem interested in updating. But I keep going back to LPE due to the FC's and slowness of ADW. :(
