Is there a way to see what an update is doing before updating an app?

Is there a way to see what an app developer is updating in an update BEFORE I update an application?

I dont want to update my apps really unless I know what is being changed (i.e. a developer putting restrictions on an app that was once free)

The only real precautions are:
1) emailing the developer and ask
2) do a backup first allowing you to reinstall the older version
3) wait a while before downloading and keep an eye on the market comments.

No problem. If a developer does something to mess up a good program (intentionally or unintentionally) the negative comments in the market usually come at a fast a furious pace.

Usually the developer adds a compact changelog to the description of the app, or adds a full one on their site, good to check.

It'd be nice if there would be a button or tap-able link in the app description (or change notification) that would go directly to a web page with the change log.

A non-tap-able link in the app description (as a few have) isn't very useful -- I'm not going to manually type that url into the browser.
