At&t still the best :P

The coverage definitely varies, even within the same general area. Where I live, the coverage is good [six years ago, you had to go outside to use a(n AT&T) cell phone, but that was six years ago]. Where my university is, there are huge dead zones, especially inside some buildings... Of course, the biggest dead zone I know of is anywhere not by a window in the library, and I'm sure they don't want people making calls in the library anyway. I also haven't compared it with my friends' Verizon to see if it's something about the architecture itself of some buildings that blocks the signals or if it's just AT&T.

On the other hand, the coastal states are AT&T's strongest zones on the maps (my whole state is supposed to have 3G coverage), and I have received some text messages hours late on my campus. It is frustrating, especially since often it takes receiving another text message to "push" the stuck message(s) through. Also consider the fact that most college campuses now use text messages to communicate news of emergencies, and dead zones suddenly become dangerous.

However, I'm sure there are areas where Verizon sucks, areas where T-Mobile sucks, etc. It also could just be the awful phone I have. It just happens to be I "found" a big area with spotty coverage...

And, iirc, it has to do with the architecture. Verizon's 3G network has a longer range, but slower speeds (it makes sense that that would be the trade-off), and the television tells me that you can't talk and data at the same time (can a call interrupt you while you're using the data?), so it kind of seems like there are trade-offs to be had.

It could be the phone. I've been on AT&T for 8 years, and most recently with a 3G Motorola Q. Reception was/is never an issue throughout the northeast. However I was looking to upgrade to a Touch Pro 2 when it released, but in 2 different AT&T stores in my town, just picking the TP2 up off the cradle, I saw the signal strength drop to half, while my Q was pegged at "full bars".

I think network has a lot to do with it as well, at least as far as what technology is implemented. I live about 2 Miles from my mom's, and we're both about a mile from"two" Verizon stores and we both get poor reception "inside" her house (me w/a Droid). I also had poor reception w/ a previous Edge only AT&T phone, and now with T-Mobile 3G/3.5G Nokia (higher freq. bands, poor bldg penetration). However I still get "full bars" w/my Moto Q at her house, and full bars outside with all other phones/networks.

I had an at&t cell a few years back and I'm sure their service has gotten better since then (maybe), but I got to tell ya, NEVER in all the years I've had cell phones was my reception that bad on any other service (Sprint/Verizon). So finally to make a long story short after my two years with at&t were up I switched to another company. I also called at&t who also had my long distance service at home and canceled that as well. When asked my the at&t customer service rep why I was leaving I explained to him the issues I had with their mobile division and he said "but sir, we are a completely different division that they are." and I said "I know but this way I feel like I'm STICKING IT TO THE MAN".

I dont really care much for the iPhone that's why I'm using a WinMo phone which isnt half bad. An HTC product no less the Fuze or Touch Pro 2 as it's normally known. Did you seriously come to this thread and this board no less to tout sprint? Why don't you post on that section of the board?

Your brand has, unfortunately, had as much luck with getting the 'good' android phones as AT&T has, I really hope we get the Desire it will be a good jump off point for HTC to make on the AT&T network and really could put a cut into whatever apple has in store for later this year.

As for the 'brand-baiting" try another board buddy.
