Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Back to the exercise topic for a moment - please tell me the best way to trim inner thigh area. Its the one area that I can't seem to ever make smaller. I know there's got to be something to help. Thanks in advance!!

The best advice I could give is hit the weights for your legs...squats, inner and outer thigh machines, kickback machines, etc. Do that once a week and work them hard that one day. Additionally, do long distance running 3 days a week. Thighs are typically the hardest for women to trim/tone and usually takes quite a while to do.

Thanks. I'll have to work up to anything long distance. Running is my nemesis. I much prefer elliptical.

Do any of you even go to the actual Galaxy Nexus Forum anymore?

I have it bookmarked. I scan it every now and then. :p
I get most of my info here though so why leave. :D

And since you're here I will tell you I thought of you the other day. There was a Smiley face iron on in the craft store of vampire teeth and drops of blood.

Thanks for the reply. This is, however, exactly what I did (tried it many, many times.) Regardless of what apps I launch, it will only load ONE APP PER ONE READING OF THE TAG. In other words, if I have it set to launch App 1 and App 2, the first reading of the tag will only launch App 1. The second reading of the tag will then launch App 2. Can you confirm that you can get it to launch more than one app, per read? Maybe I've got a setting wrong somewhere.

I am rooted/unlocked, but still running stock.

Which version are you using.... FREE or the PAID of NFC Task launcher? I just tried it and it works flawlessly.

Also (I have the paid version) you want to "create task" not "create profile".

Create profile does what you're saying in your reply on the paid version, don't know about the free version. It creates 2 separate reads for one tag which is way cool.

Wouldn't a spin class work well too on that area (to keep lower impact especially)?

Hmmm....dang. I'm using the paid version, and using the 'create tasks' button. Choose an app from the drop down, then click the "+", then choose a 2nd app. Frustrating!

Can you do me a favor? Would you try launching, say Astro File Manager, and Amazon Kindle, and see if those work for you? At least if we're trying the same apps, that'll rule out an incompatability maybe. Thanks!

Spin class would probably work and probably elliptical too. The reason I recommended long distance running is because of how effective it is when done right. When you modify your stride to minimize impact you use your leg muscles moreso than your knees to absorb the impact. I can tell you from experience that running will give you a better workout than will ellipticals. It just takes more effort and more time on an elliptical to get the same results as 30 minutes or so of jogging. If you can get in the neighborhood 2-3 miles in 30 minutes on a treadmill or out on a track, you will probably have burned the same calories and done your legs and core a lot better than an hour on an elliptical or a bike.

But believe me, I understand fully the problems associated with running. I don't do it on a consistent basis and I don't think anyone should, killer on the knees. But for the best/quickest results I don't think there's a substitute. Get where you want to be with running and maintain through lower impact stuff. I get shin splints something awful when I start back into my running routine...if I would just maintain after I get to where I want I would never have to endure that pain :p

If you are "creating task" it shouldn't do a second read on one tag like you said it was doing. "creating profile" does this though.

Maybe try changing the order of the tasks you create? idk.

Which tasks exactly are you using for a tag and I'll try to re-create it here and see what I get. I just tried a 2 task tag (car home and Pandora) and both opened right up, Pandora first and started streaming my music, then I hit home button and it went straight to car home so car home was opened but not showing as Pandora app was at the forefront so-to-speak

Oh I agree I'm a runner :) was just thinking for those that don't like to run.

imo there is no better than good ole fashion pounding the pavement (or trails which is much better for your joints)

I don't use those apps lol. But I'll try root explorer and books how bout that?

edit: it works perfect, except what happens, and this is normal as you can't open 2 apps and see them at the same time, the tag will open the apps simultaneously, BUT the one that shows on the screen is the last one in your list that you created the tag with. aka I created a task that opened books, then root explorer in that order. So I read the tag and root explorer shows, but I hit the "back" button and there is books. SO it opened both, but the last task you add will be the first to show on screen. Does this make sense?

I hate it. I just force myself to endure it. I just started back a couple of weeks ago and last week on my second day I got shin splints so bad I couldn't pull my toes off the floor. I stopped and stretched and got on a bike for about 5 minutes and they felt like new again, so I got back on the treadmill and finished my run.

Also, for the longest I have tried to tell my wife that the best way to trim your legs and tone the core is running. She never listened. She would either walk or get on the ellipticals. After a couple of years of trying that she finally decided to give it a shot this year. She's been going at it for about 3 weeks now and apparently she can tell a difference because she hasn't stopped and doesn't complain.

Thanks! I'll start by doing a little on the treadmill and work up. You won't find me in the neighborhood though. If there isn't a moving belt under me I won't run.

IF I ever stuck with it I'd like trails I'm sure. I guess I just need to decide I'm going to like it.

Anyone giving Codename Android ROM a shot? I just loaded up AOKP 15 so not looking for 2 ROMs in one day! Just curious if it's any faster.
(Also wondering why so many ROMs are into centering the clock? Seems just iPhonish to me)

how do you like AOKP 15? i've been content with 14 so far. seems like the additional toggles are what may drive me to update, but otherwise i am resisting the urge to flash. i'm actually UC to 920 with LeanKernel and i honestly can't imagine wanting/needing to go faster. but then again i don't play games.

i like the centered clock cuz it's easy to get lost with several notifications battery/signal/mail/texts/TiBU/etc

Honestly I toned my inner thighs and calves playing Dance Dance Revolution for a year or two. I played once-twice a week for a few hours with some friends. I gained so much stamina too.

Yup -- just most posts seem to be answered. I do try to help in the camera threads, but there seems to be a lot of yelling and jumping to conclusions about the camera sucking.

A little advice, this is how I got the wife running. Start doing intervals. Kind of the same principle of some of these couch to 5k programs. Start out walking at about a 4.0 mph pace. That automatically gets you to 2 miles in 30 minutes. This is about what cardiologists recommend for heart healthy exercises. See if you can do 1 minute at a 4.0 pace, and 1 minute at a jog (whatever is comfortable, I usually go at a 6.0 pace, so does the wife, somewhere around 5.5-6.0 is probably best). After the minute at the jog pace, go back to the 4.0 walk pace for a minute and then repeat. Then try to increase your jogging times with the walk time remaining at a minute. Once you get to about 5 minutes of a jog, start decreasing your walk time until you can jog constantly.

And remember, flashing 15 over 14 is painless and DOES NOT require a data wipe. Just a wipe cache partition and dalvik when upgrading different builds of the same ROM. You loose nothing except for 5 minutes of your day :p (and your custom kernel if you flashed that to your build 14, but that can be remedied by just re-flashing your custom kernel after upgrading to build 15 - just do them separately aka wipe cache partition and dalvik, flash 15, reboot and sign in to Google, reboot and wipe dalvik ONLY, then flash your kernel)

edit per Nova launcher: if you use Nova back it up !! (thx BB's)

BB - if you're simply looking to tone muscles... yoga is a great way to build strength and tone. may not have the high heart rate activity of say an elliptical that would generally try to achieve weight loss. my fiancee and i like yoga mostly cuz it's great to stretch out the back and hips. i'm sitting 85% of time during the week... but with anything it's tough to stick with it. i also like the meditative aspects of working out in general... nice to collect my thoughts at the same time.

Then what did I do wrong ? I lost my setups but no data. Is it because of using nova?

Oh, forgot to add, you may find that you can go 2 minutes or even 3 minutes of jogging with only a 1 minute walk in between intervals as soon as you start. If you don't feel 1 and 1 is pushing you to start, bump it up in 30 second intervals till you find something that pushes you for the whole 30 minutes. If you find that at the 20 minute mark you can't do the same interval, back it down in 30 second chunks. And always do a 5 minute warm up, then stretch, then do your jog, then a cool down and a stretch at the end :)

Thanks. I do enjoy yoga, or did before I fell off the exercise wagon.

I was doing elliptical four days a week, zumba twice and yoga once. I am back to zumba and need to add everything back in.

Affirmative. You can, however, backup Nova it's within the app iirc.

And I apologize I told you that you wouldn't lose anything yesterday I forgot you run Nova

No apologies needed. I hadn't set up much of anything at all. It was NOT a big deal. Just wanted to know for future. :D
