HTC reveal DHD will get ICS or did they? LoL

I'm also hoping that HTC roll out the Ice-cream sandwich OS to the Desire HD, but I don't think it will happen. Everywhere that I have been reading tells me that only the HTC Sensation will get the update and maybe some of the other newer models. One of the reasons it the difference in hardware between the older and newer models. The main difference between the desire and sensation is the processor. The Sensation having a dual-core 1.2 GHz scorpion processor and the desire a 1 GHz scorpion cpu.

Even if they do decide to roll it out, it could be sometime before your phone operator then delivers it to its customers after they have made several operator specific changes.

Fingers crossed. :)

just a thought when was the DesireHD released

I'm sure it is less than 18 months ago by which they should give us the update

Ableit with the face recognition not working unless you could use the main camera

Desire HD was released in Nov. 2010, so ICS is within 18 months... but I do not think we are getting it.

Here are HTC's newest line of phone(s):
HTC one X
HTC one S
HTC one V

the lowest of the 3 is HTC one V and it's hardware spec is:
single core 1 GHz (equal to DHD)
WVGA screen size (equal to DHD)
no front camera (equal to DHD)
5 MPix back camera (which is lower than DHD's 8 MPix)

sofware wise it's using ICS + Sense 4.... [edit: my bad, One V got Sense 3.6]

so... there's a huge chance that officially DHD might get ICS + Sense 3.5 because it's perfectly feasible. But in the off chance that we don't, I dare bet someone would tinker to get one V's ROM into our DHD. Hopefully while keeping the camera 8Mpix (Perhaps porting the camera apps from HTC one S' which have 8 Mpix with Sense 4 as well)

XDA dev... please get it working... cross fingers...

not to mention our DHD has 50% more RAM , which makes me wonder, are we also getting sense 4.0?

actually does anyone know what type of processor the one V has? i know the speed just wondered about the architecture thats all (and if they would be using that as an excuse lol)

This is taken from tech radar:

"He [Jeff Gordon, global online communications manager for HTC] also told us that when Android 4.0 [ICS] lands on phones such as the HTC Sensation XE it would be with Sense 3.6, rather than the new Sense 4.0 version, as the overlay was developed in tandem with the update."

So, it's been confirmed that only the One line have Sense 4.0, and since ICS is most probably the last official update DHD will get, DHD will have sense 3.6 at most... officially of course.

Meanwhile, Sensation, XE, XL and the others might still get Sense 4.0 in the end, perhaps even 4.5, but only by the time One X/S/V been replaced from their frontline position by, I don't know... Two Y/T/W?... which comes with Jellybean and 5ense.

Hmm... I'm at lost... Engadget and CNET has reported that One V is going to run Sense 4, but there are some other sources that specifically says that Sense 4 can only be found in One x/S, and One V is going to have Sense 3.6 only.

The main difference of Sense 3.6 and 4 that I know of is definitely the camera, since all the new One line have sported dedicated chip for image processing (low light sensor and quick snap). Since it's hardware enhancement, this might be difficult to be ported into DHD, unlike beats sound that as we know is software enhancement.

The HTC Sensation XE update is rolling out in parts of Europe now. Android 4.0 with Sense 3.6. Mobile Raptor: Android ICS update comes to HTC Sensation XE and Samsung Galaxy S II

After that I suspect it will go to the Sensation (April?), XL (May), Desire S (June), Incredible S (July)... just kidding.

Seriously, I think it will be several months, maybe even six months before we see ICS. Hope not. The DHD has pretty much the same hardware as the Desire S and Incredible S so I guess all those might come out at the same time.
