Would you purchase again?

I am looking to purchase a new tablet soon. I currently have an original ipad (purchased before there were any decent android tablets). Would you recommend this tablet. I am looking at the transformer, the transformer prime (more expensive) or the Samsung galaxy tab 10.1 (lacks the awsome docking station). I would like to get the opinion from those who own this tablet. Thanks!

If you are asking if I'd purchase this tablet again, now that I've had it for a while, then the answer is yes, in a heartbeat. It performs well and the display is gorgeous. The only minor complaint I have is the volume of the internal speakers. It's rather low and it's maximum setting.

I am particularly impressed with the regularity in which Asus pushes out updates.

Between the TF101 and TF201 I'd pay the extra dinero to get the latest and greatest. But since I bought the TF101 before the TF201 existed, I see no reason to upgrade. I'm sure the TF201 is faster, better graphics, etc, but the TF101 does everything I need. Browsing, email, apps and the few games I use all work fine on the TF101. I don't even own the dock. I have a netbook, I wanted a tablet. I'm sure the keyboard will drop in price to a point where I say, "Yeah, why not." But for now, I'm very happy with my ASUS Android tablet.

I definitely would buy the TF101 again! With the perfect mix of price, updatability, and accessories (ie DOCK!!), I think that the OG Transformer is the bee's knees; and beat all of the other competitors that you mentioned. As soon as ASUS gets the trouble figured out with the Prime, I'm hoping to upgrade and let my little Honey (that's what she's called) grace my wife's life with her Tegra 2 goodness!!

Thanks for all the input. Looks like most people love their transformers. I will probably be getting one as soon as I sell my ipad. I've looked into the prime but it appears as though they have alot more bugs to deal with based on their forum. Thanks again.

Maybe you can sell it to the person who said he'd rather get the iPad. :)

Another "Me too"...

I'm very happy with my Tf101G and my father is delighted with the TF101 he got for Christmas (I liked his so much when I was setting it up that I bought one for myself). The Android tablets might not yet be as slick as the iPads, but they can do sooo much more. The machine has been rock-solid and a pleasure to use (Android 3.2.1).

My only complaint about the TF101 is on the quality of the speakers and microphone - they both suck. I am waiting on a (cheap) headphone/mic combo to improve Skype. Other than that, I love it. The dock is handy when I have to do a lot of typing or even just as a stand when I'm watching video.

I reckon iPads are fantastic if you are happy to do only what Steve Jobs allowed you to do, but Android is the go if you like tinkering and comparing alternatives. I am looking forward to chowing down in Ice Cream Sandwich on hte TF101 when it arrives in a few weeks.

I hope this helps, anyway.

iJokes aside ;) I'd my first play with an iPad last week. Whilst I prefer my Transformer, the iPad is still a quality piece of kit. I was impressed with the fact that iTunes will let you know if apps are tablet friendly.

If you're looking to get shot of it, we've a classifieds section. I'm sure someone would take it off your hands.

Just curious ... why not? What did you find lacking in the T101 that the iPad will offer?

nothing really major, I had a problem with my charger, actually it was the cable, asus had me send the cable and wall wart in and wouldn't send me a replacement in the meantime, so I had to spend $30 to get a charger (we were going on vacation the whole reason I bought the thing), with an Ipad I could have gone to target and gotten one cheaper, I believe the build quality on my tf101 is kind of lacking, not sure about the prime it looks a bit better. I am a huge android fan, don't get me wrong, I still love my incredible! having played with both units side by side, I really do (gasp) think the ipad is a better device. My transformer also crashes with every browser constantly!

I think there were quality issues with either the early ones or a particular lot that got shipped. I bought mine about 6 months ago in the eastern U.S. and haven't seen any of the widely reported issues ... separating bezel, cable/port/charger issues, non-responsive screens or power buttons. I can see where having all those things happen at once would raise serious doubt about quality.

I've only had mine for a couple weeks and I love it. I wasn't really sure what I was going to use a table for because I have a laptop, pc, and 4g smartphone. While at home I spend the most time on the tablet now. I was thinking about waiting for the prime, but after playing with this at best buy, I decided it was more than enough to get done what I would use it for and for a cheaper price.

I will admit that my ipad's build quality is amazing, never a problem at all in that respect, but I hate the way apple forces you to use iTunes for every little thing you want to do. You can't even add a song to your device without going through iTunes. I was an early android phone adopter, but bit the bullet because there were no decent android tabs available. Now things have changes, just need to make a decision on which tab to get.

that is the exact reason why I didn't get an ipad, although I use a mac daily for work and have for years, I didn't want to be tied to itunes for every little thing, I haven't followed enough to see if it is still that way???? Don't get me wrong I love my transformer, but it can be buggy at times which I have never really seen with an ipad, if you are a little tech savvy then it won't bother you because you can do things that you can't on a ipad, but if you just want it to work than an ipad is better....ie: I would not recommend an android pad to my girlfriends sister who is lo-tech because I would be on the phone talking her through stuff all the time...

Yep, what he said. Bought with the dock 2 days ago. Loving it. My rooted nook color is going back to primarily a (very nice) ereader.
