Help How to sideload an app and still retain the initial welcome screens?

Greetings everyone,

I bought a Kindle Fire for my wife as a birthday gift. I want to load some apps onto the device, in particular games and productivity apps I know she uses on her phone a lot, but I still want the device to go through the default welcome process after I've done so. I still want her to have that "first-time use" experience.

Any links to instructions on this, or does anyone have first-hand experience?

Once you side load the apps go into settings, applications, press the all tab, scroll down to launcher, press it and select clear data.

Is there a way to clear all data? Including things such as browser history, etc? I know I can go in and clear everything individually, but I'm looking to do it all at once.

Is there a way to install third party apps without having to download a file manager app? I've been looking it up online and it appears that I can do it using ADB, but I'm having trouble finding clear instructions.

Just download ES File Explorer from the Amazon App store, it's free.

When you download the apk, the downloaded apk will appear in the Notifications drawer (click on the upper lefthand corner to open Notifications). When you click on the apk, the installer will come up.
That's the only I can think of without having to install a file manager.

That doesn't work because just adding the apk to the kindle doesn't initiate an installation prompt.

Just install the apps with ES File Explorer and then uninstall it when you're done.

It is trivial to install an app via ADB... AFTER you have ADB installed. The trick is in making a few subtle mods to your ADB installation on your PC that will allow it to actually see the attached Kindle.

However, as others have pointed out, why bother with attaching your kindle to an external computer and pushing an app via ADB, when all you need is a free file manager on the kindle itself? Of course, if you succeed in getting ADB working with your kindle, you may as well root, as it is also trivial at that point.

Another way to do this without having to go through the whole problems of doing it through ADB or using ES is to download them straight off the internet using GetJar or 4share. Now before you go to anyone of these sites make sure to allow the Kindle to accept third party apps by:
-Going to the full options page (click the gear in the top right and select more)
-Then select device and then turn on the allowance of third party apps
After alltbwt is done go to one of the sites provided and download them without having to worry about the Boot screen being changed and give that new user feel. I hope this helps
