I prefer Swype on the gnex. Second place is smart keyboard and then the android one. I tried swiftkeyx and I hated it. I forgot the reason why already haha

I really made an effort to like Swype but either I sucked at it or I just didn't like the predictions so I've never used it since. I'll reinstall SK today and see if I like it.
Also, for those with tablets, SK is awesome on it. With larger ones (10"+), you can split the keyboard in landscape, pretty cool. Would love to have used it more, but my wife trashed the screen on my GT 10.1

Guess this is where the future of smartphones may be heading in terms of processors. Though I have to say my 1 year old netbook had a similar Celeron processor and it was slow as molasses. (Admittedly, XP is a little bit more resource heavy than Android...)

I switched to FlexT9 on the Gnex because I was not able to find Swype . However after seeing your post I did another search and did see that there is a Beta available on the Swype website. Is this what you are using?

Edit: Ok, just tried to install that one, it says screen size is not supported and will not let it run.

I'm using Swype. When I begin to type with it, I get a prompt that says our screen size isn't supported, but I use it anyway, and it works just fine (in portrait.) I don't like using Swype in landscape. Odd yours won't run though.

For my Thrive (10"), I use Thumbkey, and LOVE it! I'm using the ICS theme, which is nice also. I use the split keyboard. Really a nice keyboard for tablets.

Yes the split keyboard is amazing and I think that is the fastest way to go on bigger screens

I had a very odd issue with the GNex today;

First the phone locked up on the home screen, than it rebooted its self.
After the reboot, there was a notification for a Nova Launcher update.

That being said, I am kind of annoyed at that article, calling the issue a plague is irresponsible reporting IMO, considering if it were a plague, this issue would be all over this forum. Instead, not one thread regarding random reboots in the past 4 days was commented on.

I didn't get a reboot but whenever nova updates I end up in gosms by default. I did have a random reboot today but I think Nyxie didn't like being put to work as hard as she was. And I would not recommend using airdroid and the forbidden app and streaming Sirius. That's when she said 'enough!'.


On an unrelated note I am extremely excited that the Starbucks by me is going to sell me a bottle of their toffee nut syrup. Mmmm.

Wow, chilly. I'm not quite that cold here, but it doesn't seem to bother my neighbors. Must have been a half dozen pick-up hockey games on the lake yesterday.

Love the pic. Still hate cold and snow though. Unless its snowing and I'm curled up with a good book (or a warm body) and don't have to go ANYWHERE until its done and cleaned up.

We're supposed to get to almost 60 today before the next cold front comes through, but even then, the low is only going to be around 25. Barely below freezing. If global warming gives me winters like this so far, I'll take it. Plus, I have the added bonus of maybe having ocean-front property if the ocean levels rise enough.

Isn't that just because you need to re-select Nova as the default launcher after it updates?

Good afternoon everyone. Just dropping in -- running a ton of errands today because we have MLK day off from work. Hope everyone had a great weekend. Threw a surprise party for my mom's boyfriend and it went off without a hitch.

BTW found this in my archives -- this was my G1 home screen a few months after getting the phone. Boy how times have changed.

I guess. But even before I rooted I would sometimes get a force close and it would go to gosms. I flashed it through recovery once I was rooted
